  1. Markstrom was injured, don't even know if he can jump back in right away when he got back, Demko was not at level. Boeser was injured and they were win some lose some in the tail end of the season. I don't have a crystal ball but been a fan long enough to know that it ain't going to happen.
  2. no, but trading Madden for a rental would bum me out regardless if the season was shortened or not.
  3. It's happening and this is why I'm scared.https://news.yahoo.com/stabbing-asian-american-2-old-190324496.html Stabbing of Asian-American 2-Year-Old and Her Family Was a Virus-Fueled Hate Crime: Feds The vicious stabbing of an Asian-American family, including a 2-year-old girl, at a Sam’s Club in Texas earlier this month has been deemed a hate crime by the feds, as authorities continue to raise alarm bells about a potential surge in racially motivated crimes amid the coronavirus outbreak. Jose L. Gomez, 19, confessed to authorities that he attempted to murder three Asian-American family members, including the toddler and a 6-year-old, on March 14 at the Midland, Texas store, according to the Midland Police Department. Gomez, who stabbed the individuals and a Sam’s Club employee, is now facing several charges, including three counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault. He is being held on several bonds totaling $1 million. “The suspect indicated that he stabbed the family because he thought the family was Chinese, and infecting people with coronavirus,” according to an FBI analysis report obtained by ABC News. The Texas incident was used in the report as one example of a recent surge in hate crimes and racially fueled violence targeting Asian-Americans as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep the United States. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Midland Reporter-Telegram, Gomez attempted to kill the Asian-American family of four inside the wholesale store at about 7:30 p.m. When a Sam’s Club employee and another patron intervened, Gomez allegedly stabbed the patron in the leg and fingers with a knife. At one point, the customer was able to knock the knife away from Gomez during the struggle before the teenager was finally subdued by Border Patrol Agent Bernie Ramiez, who was off-duty and just leaving the store after shopping for groceries, the affidavit states. Ramirez later told CBS7 that during the altercation, he saw the store employee had managed to put Gomez in a chokehold after he had stabbed multiple people. “My initial thought was it was just the shortage of items that they were fighting over,” Ramirez told the local outlet. “So I just started making my way over there to break it up.” The agent added, “I’ve got close to 19 years in law enforcement. It’s crazy and it’s sad the way certain individuals think, their mindset. It’s a sad deal.” When authorities arrived at the Sam’s Club, investigators immediately began to question Gomez. The teenager then admitted to trying to kill the family and assaulting the patron with a knife, the affidavit states. Ramirez did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment and a spokesperson for Midland Mayor Patrick Payton’s office declined to comment, stating that the case has now been turned over to the FBI. According to the intelligence report that was compiled by the FBI’s Houston office and distributed to local law enforcement agencies across the nation, federal officials believe hate crimes will only increase as COVID-19 continues to spread. “The FBI assesses hate crime incidents against Asian Americans likely will surge across the United States, due to the spread of coronavirus disease... endangering Asian American communities,” the report states. “The FBI makes this assessment based on the assumption that a portion of the US public will associate COVID-19 with China and Asian American populations.” To date, more than 3,416 people have died and 174,467 individuals have been infected with the virus nationwide—a death toll that has eclipsed China’s official count and put much of the United States on lockdown. Since then, several political and media commentators, including President Donald Trump, have adopted the practice of calling the pandemic the “China virus” or the “Wuhan virus.” “It did come from China,” Trump said at a March 19 White House briefing. “It is a very accurate term.” Many experts and political figures believe that officials using racial terms for the virus has contributed to discrimination against members of the Asian-American community. “This is a global emergency that should be met with both urgency and also cultural awareness that COVID-19 is not isolated to a single ethnic population,” Jeffrey Caballero, executive director of the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations, said in a statement to The Daily Beast. “Xenophobic attacks and discrimination towards Asian American communities are unacceptable and will not make our families safer or healthier.” California Gov. Gavin Newsom reiterated the FBI’s report findings, stating he has seen a “huge increase” in assaults targeting the Asian-American community in his state. In New York, Attorney General Leticia James launched a hotline for victims of coronavirus-related bias crimes. Since the surge, even Trump tried to backtrack on his language, tweeting on March 23, “It is very important that we totally protect our Asian American community in the United States, and all around the world. They are amazing people, and the spreading of the Virus is NOT their fault in any way, shape, or form. They are working closely with us to get rid of it. WE WILL PREVAIL TOGETHER!” According to one New York City medical social worker, racism is also rampant in the health-care system as Asian-American doctors and nurses struggle to care for patients who don’t want to be touched. “I get yelled at down the street coming into work from people in their cars saying all these really nasty things and telling me I should be punished for bringing the virus here,” the social worker told The Daily Beast last week. “Inside the hospital, I have heard from several Asian-American doctors and nurses that some patients don’t want to be treated by them because they think they already have the virus. It’s like we are the virus or something.” “It’s scary and it’s dangerous. We’re already putting ourselves on the line to help others. Don’t make it harder for us than it is,” she added.
  4. These kind of articles really worry me because while it's one thing to report a story, it is a completely other when innocent Chinese decent people are taking the brunt of the anger. Sure there are bad people who take advantage of situations but that is in the case of any race. Think of the story where a man in NY bought up all the hand sanitizers so he could sell it at a premium. Does that make all people of his race as bad as he is? There are Chinese Americans who are being attacked on the streets and sprayed with Febreeze on the subway. I talk to my family regularly and there has been a lot of anger directed to the Chinese Canadian community and they don't have anything to do with it. They are as scared and angry as anyone else. I sincerely hope that when people read these stories, they can direct thier anger to the people who did these bad things and not towards the race of people this person happens to belong to.
  5. I'll care about this if Benning can't resign Tiffoli and we traded Madden for a handful of games played.
  6. Just before your roommate goes out to a party, you start wheezing and coughing and say you think you might be coming down with someting. See if he comes back home.
  7. Not yet, we are now on Day 2 of no infections and we must wait until 14 consecutive days of no virus before we can go. So keeping our fingers crossed. Stay safe mann
  8. How are you all? I hope everyone is doing fine back home. Worried about everyone there.
  9. I have the perfect solution. Have each team get every player a PS4 and a copy of NHL 20. Each regularly scheduled game will be played online with each player from each team controling themselves in the game. Broadcast it on national TV and see who wins.
  10. I'm a bit disappointed becaiuse I was fully expecting Hughes to break Petterson's rookie scoring for the Canucks and win the calder. Unfortunately with the season on hiatus I'm not sure that can happen with the scoring. The Calder though? Can he still get that?
  11. That is the extreme circumstance that is going on, the public went nuts over that that on the internet and the police officer and the chief of that area ended up getting fired. They really pay attention to the public over here. If for instance they want to pass a law, they leak it out, then guage what people are saying about it before enacting it. The numbers are fairly correct considering the fact that all of us have been inside our homes for day number 50 now. People are keeping up with the numbers extremely closely and the suburb of Wuhan where I am in have had no cases for the past week and a half so things are starting to open up a little bit. I'm not sure about what the newsoutlets are saying in numbers back in Canada but with all the social media here, the number has gone down relatively low. There is also a lot of mis information out there. The face masks are a lot of help, I don't care what the people in the media says, the face masks work really well because even of we close our mouths we must always be breathing in crowded areas. and if you can then go stock up on some. They really help when protecting yourself against the virus because it's airborn and it must go through many layers of face mask material before it gets in your mouth or nose. Also, if you are sick yourself then it allows you have a lesser chancce of giving it to others. If they really are not needed like a lot of people say then why do doctors even need them?
  12. What if they end the season as of today and start it up again as the playoffs.
  13. I don't understand the hysteria of going out to buy toilet paper. Your body doesn't start making you go to the bathroom more just because you are at home. And with spills and stuff you use a rag. Your main concern is probably be food because when it happened in Wuhan and panic buying happened...it was fast. Like within hours store shelves were emptied and if your house don't have food then you out of luck. Make sure you stock up on food especially non perishables. If you have pets, then you need to make sure you stock up at least a couple of months of food and litter. Lots of people are resorting to feeding thier pets people food over here.
  14. Well now that the salary cap has gone up, if JB doesn't resign Marky, people will go nuts.
  15. things are good over here, like I said the worst thing to go through is the boredom. but everyone is in good spirits.
  16. Marky is proving that he is the unsung hero on this team by being off the ice.
  17. I am hearing a lot of panic buying going on in the United States so with the way things are going, this may reach you guys over there very soon. If there is a chance you may need to be quarantined or lock down, make sure you stock up on the essentials that you know you will need for a while since there maybe a chance you don't want to go out for a while. Freezer food and dry or canned food is best because you can store it for a long time. Don't go scarfing down all your food and essentials in the beginning. Make sure you ration as if you will be in it for the long haul. If you squander then you will be good for the first couple of weeks but after that what you gonna do? Make sure you quietly buy a little bit because panic buying will happen soon. I have followed this and that seems to be the routine. Keep everyone you want to be with in the same area, don't make the same mistake I did by dropping the kid off to grandpa for the week. Make sure your loved ones are close. And very importantly, make sure you have things to do because if you are quarantined at home. The thing that will bother people the most is the boredom. I'm lucky to have my PS4 or I'd be driving myself crazy. Make sure you have activities that will keep you busy. Older members should remember that this hits the older crowd the most so always wear a facemask. This virus can transmit through touch feces or urine so make sure you wash your hands a lot and be mindful of the things you touch or more importantly what others may have touched. If you are young and healthy, you will most likely feel this as a flu but if you have underlying problems then make sure you are extra cautious. I sincerely hope you don't need this but a few tips from someone who is living this.
  18. Don't fire green, just resign Marky
  19. The more I see Demko play, the more I pray we resign Marky
  20. Wierd? Hong Kong finds coronavirus in pet dog, unclear if infected A pet dog was quarantined at an animal centre in Hong Kong after it tested positive to low levels of the new coronavirus, officials said Friday, in the first such case in the city. The dog did not have any symptoms. The canine, which belongs to a 60-year-old woman infected with the virus, has no "relevant symptoms", the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said. (Coronavirus outbreak: All the latest updates) But "nasal and oral cavity samples were tested weak positive to Covid-19 virus," a spokesman said, without explaining why they tested the animal in the first place. The dog was collected from the owner's home on Wednesday, after the woman was diagnosed with the contagion and placed in a hospital isolation ward. It would be closely monitored and undergo further tests to confirm if it really has the virus or if "this is a result of environmental contamination of the dog's mouth and nose," the department said. The canine would be held until it returned a negative result. While there is no evidence domestic animals such as dogs and cats can catch the virus or transmit it to humans, the department said pets of infected people should be quarantined for 14 days. https://www.msn.com/en-ae/news/world/hong-kong-finds-coronavirus-in-pet-dog-unclear-if-infected/ar-BB10vNN7?li=BBqrVLO
