No, that is incorrect.

If the Titans win, they are in.

If the Titans lose, and Cleveland loses, they are in.

If the Titans lose and Cleveland wins, Cleveland is in.

Cleveland MUST WIN and Tennessee MUST LOSE in order for the Browns to make the playoffs.

CBS showed a graph that explained the Browns can only make the playoffs if they win and Tennessee loses, and thats the only way they can make it in.

I am curious as to who might be the Titans opponent if they make the playoffs.

I believe you and CBS are incorrect.

If Cleveland and the Titans both lose then the Browns are in the playoffs. The first tie breaker is Conference Play, the second tie breaker is common opponents.

the Browns are 7-5 in AFC Conference Play, the Titans currently are 6-5. So the Browns currently hold the first tie breaker.

Since the Browns are playing the 49ers, their conference record doesn't change regardless of the outcome of the game.

If the Titans lose to the Colts however, then their conference record falls to 6-6 instead of 7-5 and therefore Cleveland gets the nod.

BUT... the Titans hold the second tie breaker which is common opponents. Since they hold wins over Houston, Cincinnati and Oakland. The Browns have wins over Cincy and Houston, but lost to Oakland - if you remember that was the game that Lane Kiffin "Shanahan'd" the Browns with the late timeout call when they were attempting a last second field goal for the win. Who woulda thunk that that Oakland game and that play would come back to haunt the Browns.

If the Titans and the Colts were to tie (remotely possible), then the Browns need to win over the 49ers, but that's the only scenario where it matters if they win or lose.

All I can say is that right now, I am the biggest fan of Jim Sorgi ever. Go Sorgi!!

You are correct, they need too win or tie at least.

Some websites did say the other day that they need only for the Browns to lose, but like you said, that would only apply if they required that second tie breaker, which they wouldnt if the Titans lost.

Not sure if anyone posted this, but the Patriots-Giants game on Saturday night which was supposed to be on the NFL Network only has now been added to both NBC and CBS lineup for Saturday night.

I can only wonder what the ratings will be for that game if it's on national TV. No Canucks game either (cause it would make way too much sense for them to play on the weekend, instead of getting two full days off then having to play back-to-back conference games at home then on the road in a different time zone).

GO COLTS. And go Browns too, though the game means squat.

I don't buy the idea that a player suddenly becomes better or more likely to succeed depending on whether its with 8 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter or 2 minutes to go in the 4th.

Maybe what Mr. MVP meant was simply that Vince Young has come through in big situations so far, I just don't think it has anything to do with him being "clutch", its just a fluke.

They will probably garner good numbers, even for a Saturday night.

As for the Browns, pretty hard to see the 49'ers beating them, I guess its possible but seems unlikely.

As much as I like the Titans, even if they make the playoffs, they will be hard pressed to advance very far, Vince is still throwing too many interceptions and he doesnt have what it takes to take them all the way IMO, maybe in a year or two and with the addition of another top notch receiver.
