the strikeforce heavyweight tourny looks amazing

I can't remember the last time i was looking forward to anything like this (mma related of course) hmmm i think it was the machida/shogun fight but thats cause shoguns my favourite fighter. But still

Overeem vs Werdum

Fedor vs Silva

In the first bracket. Thats sick!!! The winner of this tournmant without a doubt is the number one heavyweight in the world.

Riiiight. Cain? JDS??

Also, this tourney is a good idea, but since it's SF and Fedor's involved, I can see it failing.

They have alot riding on it. With Barnett, Overeem and Fedor all in 1 tournament, you're right. Alot can go wrong lol.

As good as JDS is I dont even see him as a top 5 heavy. All we've seen his aggressivness and excellent striking ability. We haven't seen his ground game, we haven't seen a good wrestler try and take him down, and his defense isn't all that great(Nelson fight). Cain however, is legit and probably either the best or 2nd best heavyweight in the world. But He's out for the year basically. Inactive for a year while the winner of this tourny will put together a string of 3 top 10 wins in a row. Which no UFC heavy has done in a while. Cain got past brock who was the number 1 heavyweight(which was a joke imo) and beat Nog in very impressive fashion. So he's got 2 top 10 wins in a row. If he beat JDS without a doubt he would be the number one guy but since he wont be fighting anytime soon, i dont know how one can argue that the winner of this tournament isn't the best heavyweight in the world.

We haven't really seen Cain Valasquez's ground game much either, but that doesn't mean he isn't an elite fighter.

Oh, and my pet peeve? Cain being called the first Mexican Champion in combat sports. He IS NOT Mexican! He was born in Salinas California!

Well if you really want to get technical he's Chicano, but "Mexican" in the U.S. context is used more to describe the ethnic group than the nationality. Brown Pride ese!

We've seen his offensive top game, and its been very very impressive. Cain probably wont be put on his back by anybody. The guys wrestling is way to good. Hell not even brock could keep him down.

On a side not, 130 looks awesome

Rampage/Silva is gonna be sick!

Just looking over the cards around UFC 129, and they all look better then the 129 card.

Why does a canadian event have to feature 10 canadians? personally, since this is suppose to be the biggest card ever, i would push back some fights from ufc 128 and fight night 24. Really, i dont care about the canadian fighters, just put the best possible fights on a card, having at least 2 title bouts.

Possibilities:

Moving the Shogun Vs Evans (UFC 128) fight back 1 month to UFC 129.

- Shogun is coming off an injury and the extra month wouldnt hurt.

- Faber, Miller,Cro Cop, Akiyama featured in this event should be sufficient.

Fight Night 24 features Ortiz vs Nogueira and Hardy vs Johnson

This is a fight night card, any of those can be the main event, move one to UFC 129 to the main card or even free prelims.

UFC 130 is shaping up to be STACKED.

Why not move Mir vs Nelson up to UFC 129, they both havent fought in awhile.

Moving Rampage vs Silva is possible too since Silva didnt look too beat up against vera.

What do you guys think?

By now, does a Canadian card need to feature Canadian fighters?

Does this card need to feature 2 title bouts? or atleast 1 title bout and a number 1 contender bout? or bigger names?

Would you make any of the changes mentioned above?

Personally i dont think this card is capable of selling 60,000 or whatever tickets they were hoping for.

Likely wont be as hyped since Shield is unlikely to trash talk as much as Hardy or Koscheck to hype up the fight.

UFC 130 looks SICK

Rampage Jackson vs. Thaigo Silva

Stefan Struve vs. Travis Browne

Thaigo Alves vs. Rick Story

Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson

Rumoured bought also is Frank Edgar vs Gray Maynard

I was going to come and ask if anyone had seen this card. I hope its legit since I haven't heard anything about it before seeing it in a thread on mmalinker which was linked to a ufc 130 on wikipedia.

Rampage vs Silva is going to be nuts, both of them throwing bombs. Ofcourse I'm gonna go with Rampage to get the win in that one.

First off, I think Cain is the superior fighter, so don't misinterpret what I'm saying. But JDS is supposedly a pretty decent BJJ tactician, although his fists have carried him all the way to the #1 contender spot. It will be interesting to see how he stacks up in this area, especially if someone gets him on his back.

If I had to bet money on it, I'd say that JDS is the BJJ fighter, Cain the superior wrestler and striker, and that JDS would be very fortunate to get Cain on his back and keep him there.

In the end, aside from the standard 'puncher's chance', JDS would have to put Cain on his back and somehow submit him, which would be very very difficult to do. Only a fool would stand and trade with Cain.

UFC 131 expected to take place in Vancouver headlined with the return of former interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin.

No opponent yet. But from how i see it there are only a couple available fighters.

Lesnar, Kongo and Nogueira are the only big name heavy weights that do not have a fight scheduled.

Lesnar rematch would be awesome, but most likely will be Kongo so they can knock the daylights out of eachother.

Hoping this would be a somewhat decent card, we got the short end of the stick last year. Possible lightweight or featherweight title bout would be nice

Wow, great news in for canadian UFC fans today.

Vancouver will finally get a card worth watching, which features 2 premium heavyweight bouts.

And the 129 card just got a lot better with a second title fight on the card between Jose Aldo and Mark Hominick

ufc 128-131 are all stacked cards. Dana White is a genius.

having lesnar and dos santos as tuf coaches is pretty stupid. The ufc heavyweight division is looking very thin right now. Carwin, nog and cain injured. Leaving only a few legit top guys. I dont like the whole interm belt idea. If a champion is gone for a year or more, then it should be brought into play. Wasn't cain expected to return in 8 months? I'm not exactly sure, but this just seems like a money making scheme. Which isn't really surprising.

On a side note. Glad to see the UFC will be coming back to vancouver. Although the card didn't have the biggest names last time. It was a phenomenal card. The Liddell/Frankling, Rory/Condit, and CroCop/Barry fights were all very very good. Hopefully it will be as good as last time.

They aren't fighting for any belt. Dana confirmed it.

They are also coaching Welterweights.

^ ok thats alot better then. Kinda still doesn't make sense to have thesew two as coaches but it just seemed like an awful idea to have brock fighting for an interm title. Kinda feel like they shouldn't be doing the ultimate fighter 3 times year. Maybe just one. The talent level coming from that show isn't nearly as high as it use to be.

TUF is done twice a year not three and Carwin is supposed to return on UFC 131 in Vancouver. He doesn't have an opponent yet though.

Kenny Florian might be fighting at UFC 131 also, so it looks like a stacked card.

Lesnar vs Dos Santos

Guida vs Pettis

Carwin vs TBA

Florian vs TBA
