***The UFC/MMA THREAD***

Rousey, a small favorite heading into the fight, is slated for a flat payday of $3 million. Opponent Nunes, meanwhile, is slated for a $100,000 purse. Unlike Rousey, who isn’t eligible for a win bonus, Nunes can earn an extra $100,000 if victorious.

Anyway, just in case you were wondering: Rousey lasted 48 seconds and made $3 million in the process. Do the math, and you’ll find she pocketed a cool $62,500 per second in the octagon.

What does that work out to for Rousey to take a punch to the head .... $250K/punch?

Good summation about what RR did for women in MMA/UFC..pretty much right on..Nunes could of been a little classier in post fight interviews.

Must admit I'm not a fan of seeing girls pound each other.  I respect them, but will not watch.

Rousey could also have been classier,by just showing up to the post fight interviews. In my opinion she had absolutely no right to be in the ring with the Champion after her last fight and 13 months off.....BUT money talks !!! She, thankfully paid the price.

I'm trying to remember but I think she didn't show up for the previous post fight either, the one where she got beat by Holmes.  Special treatment?

If I was Rouseys career manger Id tell her to leave MMA and join the WWE establish herself there do the reverse Brock Lesnar and then after she gets more positive pub in a year or two make the move to try Hollywood again from WWE.

Rousey is a wrestler who can't box at all which unfortunately you have to be able to be comfortable doing to fight in MMA.

My internet was down fight night.  Wished I could have been on CDC during the prelims and mains.

Not much talk. Doesn't seem like there are very many MMA fans on CDC.

On bigger fight nights, I can usually drag several people into conversations during the PPV card.

Let's talk!

I think Nunes will be the champion for a while now.   After watching this fight and her last fight, I've realized she is probably the most well rounded female fighters in the division.  Stand up is great, brown belt in judo, black belt in bjj and I didn't see any way Rousey could beat her.

Meisha Tate even said after the fight that Amanda punches like a man she has that much power.

Nunes looked great but she still has to fight the best of the best, Cyborg...

As for Rousey she hasn't shown much class these last two years so I will give Nunes the benefit of the doubt. Yes Rousey did a lot for women's MMA but ever since her lead up to the Holmes fight where she showed her zero respect she has been nothing short of an arrogant prick. She didn't do one single interview since her loss and didn't bother to show up for the post fight presser on Saturday. She made a statement about her loss but wasn't big enough to do it in person.  Anyways I think she is done so when Cyborg is ready fhey gotta have Nunes and Cyborg for the epic showdown.

And yes I'm a huge MMA fan since the Gracie days, I didn't even realize there was an MMA thread until now...  :)

The only things that make me wonder about her future is her TKO loss to Cat Zingano and her lack of stamina that begins around the end of the second round.  Cat was able to absorb her punches and eventually win the fight in the 3rd.  Shevchenko, who beat Holm, could take the hits as well but lost to Nunes in a decision.

It seems to me like Nunes is a feast or famine type of fighter.  She's a terror for the first 8 minutes, but once the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds roll up, she's very human.  Kinda like the woman version of Conor McGregor in the octagon.
