Metro Vancouver’s first snow of the season is expected Thursday night.

Environment Canada meteorologist Dave Wray predicted a mix of rain and snow downtown overnight, as well as a few centimeters in high elevations and out in the Fraser Valley.

“It’s going to get a bit cooler,” Wray said. “[The valley] has a bit more of an arctic outflow coming in right now." It was –1C in Chilliwack at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Friday night expects to be a different story.

Wray called for cooler temperatures and more precipitation after the dinner hour.

Downtown Vancouver could receive between two and four centimeters of snow, with more expected in the valley.

It should taper off by Saturday morning, Wray said, with the sunshine for the rest of the weekend.

Skiers and snowboarders will be happy to hear that the North Shore mountains expect to get 10 to 15 cm Friday.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...(oh wait, Christmas' still a month away)
