Gretzky's Mullet
The games against their AL East rivals will be the real litmus test for the Blue Jays. But I'm not ready to count them out just yet. While Aaron Hill and some of the pitchers are over-achieving, there are other guys who will probably still get better: Rios will pick it up eventually, and Overbay could as well. The Jays also have a shot at the wild card in my opinion because the rest of the American League hasn't been too hot: of all the playoff teams last year (5, if you include the Twins one game playoff), only the Red Sox are above .500. Some of those squads will pick it up (I don't see the Royals or Mariners winning their divisions), but I'm sort of wondering if the balance of power might be starting to shift back to the senior circuit. Hordichuk
The games against the Red Sox will be telling. Yankees have been nothing short of a dissapointment, Tampa has fallen back to earth, and Baltimore is, well, Baltimore. Let's wait until July to be able to make a fair assessment. The Alchemist
The pitching just is not there. A rotation of Halladay Richmond Purcey Romero Tallet/Burres is gross. The offense is overachieving in a huge way. Marco Scutaro suddenly gains a 150 points on his career OPS in his age 33 season? Rod Barajas at 175 points over his career OPS in his age 33 season? There is no way Scott Richmond comes close to a 2.70 ERA. Aaron Hill will lose about 60 points off that average by seasons end. Their 4 best offensive players this year so far have been: Aaron Hill, Adam Lind, Marco Scutaro, and Rod Barajas. Simply put, none of those players has a history of hitting anywhere near their current levels. The only player I really see underachieving on the Jays is Rios, and I'm not as high on him as a lot of people are. I think they have a good, but unspectacular offense, and a pretty crappy pitching staff.

hank4hire
It's a team effort for the jays, although you can't expect the hitting to keep overachieving, it is possible for the offense to carry the team until pitchers return from the infirmary. Marcum and Litsch are throwing already and Romero is not very far away. End of the day, the team is winning and expect to get pitching help so it's not far-fetched that this team can succeed

hank4hire
You sure about Marcum Hank? He was supposed to be out for the season.
RUPERTKBD
Some bluejay fans posted (in the blue jays forum)that he was light tossing in the bullpen and they that they actually were able to talk to him and get autographs during the KC series. I don't have a source so take it for what it is. I imagine Jannsen is further along but i'm more excited about Marcum as a bigger difference maker. Hopefully this is more than wishful thinking
Gretzky's Mullet
The Jays were better then .500 against the East last year. What really bugs me is that their starting pitching could really be something if McGowan, Litsch and Marcum were healthy. I always expected that Cito would get more out of the bats then expected (ok, maybe not this much) but it's hard to believe that the starting pitching can still work with scotch tape and glue holding the rotation together. Hopefully Casey Janssen comes back and is ready to step into his potential. Good thing Roy Halliday is a robot.
