Mr X
I'm really excited about Ricky Romero, I've heard people on espn call him the next Santana. It's such a bummer that both Marcum and McGowan, with Litsch on top, all are injured. The Jays should've had the best rotation in the league this year. Now look how well Cecil is pitching. They pretty much have 3 decent hitters in their lineup this year, with Lind, Hill and Scutaro. Rios' so called power doesn't exist. I've given up on it. He'll never hit 30 hr in the majors. They need a better hitter at either 1b or 3b, with an upgrade on either Rios or Wells to top it off. But I don't think Ricciardi can pull it off, from Frank Thomas to Shea Hillenbrand, to Bengie Molina, to BJ Ryan this team's been one disaster to another,
b3.
It's for scoring purposes, every player is assigned a number based on the position in the field so a 6 4 3 translates into shortstop fields the ball, transfers to the 2nd baseman who in turn throws it 1st to complete the double play Each position has a number assigned to it. P: 1 C: 2 1B: 3 2B: 4 3B: 5 SS: 6 LF: 7 CF: 8 RF: 9 So if an announcer says a 6-4-3 double play it means the ball went from the shortstop to the second basemen and then to the first basemen. Thank you both! This has been driving me crazy.
RUPERTKBD
I'm not sure I totally agree. The Jays are 11th in the majors in ERA and 8th in WHIP, despite having 6 starting pitchers on the disabled list, and have shown that in fact, they have considerable depth at the pitcher's spot. Even without Halladay, a rotation in the future containing Marcum, McGowan, Litsch and Romero will win a decent number of ballgames. Lind is their best outfielder right now btw. To me there is room for improvement at 1B, and anyone who is willing to take on salary should get consideration as well. It would be nice to get a high ceiling starter back, but if they can get a bat and unload Wells, they could do without.
CFF7
6 more days for the Jays to trade Halladay... imagine if the Halladay deal turned out like this On June 27, 2002, Sizemore was part of a six-player trade that sent him from the Montreal Expos to the Cleveland Indians. Sizemore was dealt with Cliff Lee, Brandon Phillips, and Lee Stevens, in exchange for Bartolo Colón and Tim Drew.

lefty
You know, this whole trade Halladay makes me hate baseball even more. MLB is a league where the rich stay rich and poor stay poorer. Toronto has NO hope of ever winning the WS again, let alone making the playoffs, if they can't keep their good players. Of course the Yankees and Red Sox will grab all the great players. The MLB should have a HARD salary cap and stop paying their players crazy amount of money.

Temujin
I personally think that the deadline is bull...they're just trying to scare up some better prospect packages, not impressed with current offers. And I want them to wait until he makes his start in Seattle the next day, the game I'm going to.
Bernie Brewer
That might be it, but I don't think he'll be gone this year whether their deadline is BS or not. He's gotta pitch at that Mariners game, he just HAS to! I've got tix for all three games. The first and third I'll be behind the Jays dugout around 3rd base level, Game two I'm in the front row around 1st base. Can't wait, first live games ever. You know where you're sitting, or are you getting your tix on gameday?
Temujin
I'm behind the plate and in the 3rd level, section 335. Nowhere near you.
The Alchemist
Err, except when you look at the previous AL and NL representatives in the WS since 2002.... 2002 San Francisco Giants Anaheim Angels 2003 Florida Marlins New York Yankees 2004 St. Louis Cardinals Boston Red Sox 2005 Houston Astros Chicago White Sox 2006 St. Louis Cardinals Detroit Tigers 2007 Colorado Rockies Boston Red Sox 2008 Philadelphia Phillies Tampa Bay Rays You see the Red Sox twice, the Yankees once, and several smaller market clubs, with quite a bit of variation (esp in the NL). The period from 1991-2001 was more consistent, but only because the Yankees were completely stacked and the Braves were coming out of the NL a lot. He's got to have a good day at the plate eventually, right? Law of averages??? I get so angry his batting average is crap. He has like 1 hit in his last 24 games. That is like a .046% batting average they showed it on Sportsnet. Let somebody else take his spot, his bat is useless.

b3.
I think he was going to leave after this season anyway, and the A's are rebuilding through prospects so it makes sense to them. He wasn't with Oakland for very long, didn't they trade for him from Colorado?
