Likewise
^ I wouldn't be surprised if the Mets claim Rios, they have A LOT of players injured. That or the Giants, they need offence Snider/Bautista to take his place in RF then?

CaliforniaFire
I love Andre Etheir, he helped give the win to Randy Wolf, a stolen win from former pitcher Derek Lowe. Lowe was pretty good with the Dodgers, but that walk-off home run from 'Dre was amazing, nonetheless. Winning it in the 9th. It may be a regular season game but it warns off the Giants for at least a little longer; along with the Rockies.
CFF7
don't really want to see Rios go, but if there is a good deal in return I wouldn't mind.
Gretzky's Mullet
It's too bad no one would claim Vernon Wells off of waivers. It'd be nice to dump lousy overpaid, underachieving Rios, but even nicer to dump even more overpaid, more underachieving Wells. Frankly, if anyone is willing to take Rios, Ricciardi should do it. Knowing him though, he'll overplay his hand (see: Halladay negotiations) and end up getting stuck with Rios.
Bernie Brewer
If Ryan Zimmerman played for anyone besides the Nationals, he would be recognized as one of the elite hitters in the game today. Also, very interesting link for fans of statistical analysis. Did you know that Jarrod Washburn has the best fastball in the majors? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AqUr...o&type=lgns

Gretzky's Mullet
Late, I've been gone. Hell yes to the first point. Something most don't realize also is that he is an excellent defender at third, almost Longoria-esque. Second point, I don't know where he got that. Tim Wakefield has the best fastball according to Fangraphs. I read fangraphs and remember reading a piece on it a few weeks ago. Here's the link. Gretzky's Mullet
Two of the greatest currently active players in baseball were cut today: Jason Giambi released outright from the A's, and John Smoltz designated for assignment from the Red Sox. An unceremonious end (maybe) for two guys who will get consideration for the Hall of Fame (I think Smoltz probably gets in, but Giambi doesn't). hank4hire
I guess the shlacking that the Yanks gave Smoltz was the final straw. Rios has pissed me off this year but i would hate to see him claimed for free on waivers and then have a bounce back year next year. What a burn that would be! b3.
Wow, Giambi got released? Wasn't he hurt for most of this year? Every time I watched Smoltz play this year he lost

hank4hire
It's like Rios and Wells read this page about them on waivers so they reply with back to back homers
