Bernie Brewer
Really? That hardly makes sense. Why is it ok to slag the GM for his trades and his signings but not for his drafting? In most cases, the draft is a bit of a crapshoot, and mistakes are inevitable (see Vancouver Canucks, 1969-70 to present give or take one reigning OHL MVP). However, in that case, the choice should've been obvious. The fact that he was a local guy and there was a feelgood story in the making should've made it a no-brainer. I can tell you for a fact that if it had been me instead of Bavasi on that day, I would've taken the reigning Golden Spikes Award winner playing at the University of Washington. Then comes the screwup that will continue to haunt the Mariners and reward the Giants for years to come. Lincecum is one of my favourite players (I like him far more than any Mariner; I used to like Ibanez quite a bit despite occasional defensive shortcomings, and I like Ichiro and of course Griffey, though somewhat nostalgically). And I'm pissed off, still, that the guy who should've been the brightest light of the franchise instead is on a collision course with another Cy Young with a different team, while we wait around to see if Brandon Morrow can get his ERA below 5, or pitch even one more start of the calibre of his first one. gmen81
So I want to through down a bet on the world series when I am in Vegas in 2 weeks, but I don't want to bet on a favorite. I want to bet on an underdog. Which underdog team do you guys think has the best chance of winning the world series? Rangers Giants Rockies Any others? The Alchemist
Remember when no general managers wanted Adam Dunn this past offseason? .288/.420/.584 (1.004) 32 HR In a pitchers park no less. Granted he gives some of that back with horrible defense, but still.
NorthVan Canuck
Big 20-11 win for the Yankees! This team is UNSTOPPABLE right now. b3.
Agreed, League was just brutal, along with Janseen(sp?) The only relief pitchers that I trust are, Roenicke, Tallet, and Frasor that's all.
