Rumours are that the SkyTrain cars are about to get a new livery. Rather than the existing blue-yellow swoosh, it'll be a blue-red swoosh....conveniently, the colours of the BC Liberal party. The new 48 Mark II cars arriving next year will have those colours.

Back to BC Transit colours?

Would you prefer lime and orange?

Speaking of how much I hate the socialists it appears the ottawa transit drivers have decided to go on strike right before the world juniors. That should make getting out the kanata and the areana with no car easy! Thanks guys! And people wonder why some people hate unions.... :rolleyes:

the BC Transit buses (at least the double deckers in Victoria) are getting a new green-blue striped livery:

Getting? They already have it. All the new double deckers are white, and have been for a while. I'm still getting used to it though.

The PCL bus this morning was terrible. The heater on it was busted, and there were no spare buses available (too many problems with other buses) so at 7:30 this morning I boarded a FREEZING cold bus and it stayed freezing cold all the way to the ferry. It was marginally warmer by the time we got to downtown Victoria, and by "marginally warmer" I mean I was able to take my gloves off. Now I can't stop coughing. This cold weather is doing nothing for getting rid of my cough. <_<

Massive aesthetic and accessibility renovations for Main Street Station:

Good. The current elevator at Main Street Station is so secluded that it's just creepy at night.

Now, let's hope they make the Metrotown Station pedestrian overpass accessible, because the street level crossing is just hectic/dangerous now...

I agree. The overpass at Metrotown Station is way too narrow, and the stairs to the station concourse at the end of the overpass don't make any sense at all, hindering accessibility. Fortunately, there is a $25-million renovation plan for Metrotown Station including an extended platform, new roof, expanded ticketing concourse, new pasarelle/overpass, a second passarelle/overpass, new escalators and elevators, and a relocated bus loop to the foot of Metrotown Station:

• A new roof and enclosure for Metrotown SkyTrain Station, as well as an extended platform

• New westbound station access;

• Upgrades to the east entrance;

• A rebuilt passarelle, or passageway, to the station;

• New elevators; and

• A new transit exchange/public plaza under the SkyTrain station.

I don't care about the width at all, but it's the stairs to the overpass that needs to be fixed, I think. It shouldn't be too hard to cement over the stairs and convert it to a slope/ramp.

The Central Blvd. crossing can be a bit treacherous at times, and the entrance on the Metrotown side of the street is a bit problematic (where the pedestrians and wheelchair users are "supposed" to enter is to narrow and too slopey).

Easier said than done. There's a standard for the grading of ramps/slopes, and there's not enough room to put in a ramp in the small ticket concourse there. To rid of the stairs, it would require either a reconfigured (heightened) ticketing concourse and/or a new sloping overpass.
