Baka
Pretty much. It was clear that no one but the Lannisters found any of it entertaining, and among them, only Joffrey really because he is so deranged. Varys looked like he was loving it
Azzy Mahmood
Disappointing that you found humour in that scene instead of the profound social commentary it presented. Having a family member who is a little person, I know all too well how Tyrion was feeling at that moment, and I applaud the producers and directors for it. If you were laughing at the scene instead of sympathizing for Tyrion, then wow, I don't know what to say about the kind of person you are. One of my best friends is a dwarf. My closest family friends have one child with half a heart, one with dwarfism, and another with severe learning difficulties. I've run the London Marathon twice on behalf of the Restricted Growth Association. That's the kind of person I am. Without knowing what part of that scene I was laughing at, why on earth would you jump to judge me? I laughed because: 1) the acting by the dwarfs was hilarious. Humping the wolfs head, spanking Renly. It was good-natured humour. 2) the reactions of the cast were mind-blowing. From the Tyrells' astonishment, to Loras storming off to cry, Sansa's face when Stark was taken down, Tyrion's obvious humiliation, plus Cersei, Joffrey and Tywin's glee at the show - it was hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. Such a wide range of emotions across the table, and I thought it was brilliant. 3) Tyrion has suffered far worse in his life than this - this was just one more episode. I was at my pity limit for him a long time ago. He got the last laugh anyway. By the by, while I applaud you for the stance you took (even if misguided), there is a good reason why certain minorities remain just that - minorities. When various charities, social groups, politicians etc all clamour for equality, it just proves that those people they speak for don't believe themselves equal in the first place. We're all equal, if I laugh at Warwick Davis it's because he did something funny. If I laugh at Chris Rock it's because he did something funny. Those dwarf actors were performing a comedy scene. People were expected to laugh. Plenty did. It was because the scene was funny, not because of their stature. Joffrey obviously chose to do it to mock his uncle, but the vast majority of wedding guests would not have noticed that. They were too busy laughing at the King in the North.

I agree with this very much, on the individual level. However, some minorities are discriminated against on the institutional level. This is why they have affirmative action in the US. But yes I do see and agree with your side of the argument.

He wasn't looking where he was going and walked face first into a metal post in a supermarket. He cried, everyone there was shocked and going over to see him, apart from one old bloke. Maybe 60, maybe 65.I went over to him and grabbed him by the throat. Asked him what he thought was funny. One person threw an apple at the guy. I only let him go because my son called for me. I dread to think what I'd have done to the guy.He laughed because what happened was a real You've Been Framed moment. If it was an adult, any kind of adult, it's maybe fair game. But when a child hurts themselves badly, you don't laugh. It's not funny. If some adult dwarf actors perform a comedic scene, designed to amuse and make people laugh, and you laugh, IT'S NOT BECAUSE YOU'RE A BIGOT. IT'S BECAUSE IT'S COMEDY.There is a huge difference between this scene, and what happened to my son. People get wound up by the oddest of things. I see your point Azzy, but personally I didn't find it even remotely funny and it had nothing to do with any social commentary about dwarves or any other marginalized minorities. The whole scenario was uncomfortable. The fact that Joffrey was insulting his uncle was part of it, but he had to know that he was insulting Loras as well and indirectly the Tyrells. One look at Olenna, Margarey and Mace should have made that clear. There was also the cruel flaunting of Robb's death, (and the manner in which the dwarf treats the wolf's head) while Robb's sister is sitting at the head table watching the entire thing. I certainly wouldn't accuse anyone of insensitivity just because they found this scene funny. It's just that I simply didn't find it funny in any way, shape, or form... Tigs
No kidding. I have never threatened anyone with physical violence for any reason unless that person had threatened me or my friends/family with violence first. This. Not to mention that kids do stuff like that all the time, and the best way to help them get over it sometimes is to laugh, help them up, and move on. Azzy Mahmood
Your kid with blood gushing from his face? And some wise guy laughs? I'd love to see you guys ignore that. Hadnt realised i hadnt mentioned the blood. It does change the story.

IT'S BECAUSE IT'S COMEDY. The scene was designed to be amusing to a murdering sociopathic character. It was not designed to be funny for the viewers. If it was the serious I doubt you would have gone out of your way to attack a senior citizen who had nothing to do with it in front of your hurt child.

It's not like his laughter caused your child to bleed nor did he cause the injury to begin with. Say something even slightly short of a glowing review and they'll act personally offended. A mine field of fanboy butthurt. Sounds like a trolls paradise... ... brb Edited April 15, 2014 by Gumballthechewy

I hope one day you can see through the eyes of a parent. When your child is hurt, time stops still. And when someone mocks them in that moment, you protect your child. It's basic human instinct. The person that laughs at my child gets one chance to pipe down. I'm sure any parent here would understand that.Back to GoT, the scene was designed by Joffrey as ENTERTAINMENT. He introduced it as such. It was designed to make people laugh. At his uncle, maybe. But make people laugh. It was funny. Spanking Renly is funny no matter how tall the person. Spit roasting the wolfs head is funny, regardless of the person's stature. The scene was hilarious. And Tywin found it funny, he's no Joffrey. Azzy Mahmood
And if he just walked into something I highly doubt it was 'gushing' blood.Smashed his nose. Which is apparently hilarious. I am so glad I don't know any of the people in this thread, you'd laugh at the downs syndrome kid getting run over but get all stony faced if a woman wasn't given a seat on a train. I never said I would have laughed, that's a terrible thing to do if he did indeed hurt himself so severely, but assaulting people isn't going to help anything. My sister gets severe nose bleeds extremely easy, so if your son is the same way then I could see just bumping into things could cause heavy bleeding. I removed that part from my post as I believe you are telling the truth. Edited April 15, 2014 by Gumballthechewy

You get that entertainment designed by a megalomaniac is not supposed to be found to be funny by others, right? Tywin was amused. He was not laughing. Anyway, I watched the episode again last night and I didn't really see Sansa lose anything off of her necklace, I can see her being blamed, but I don't see it having anything to do with her necklace.
