Who, no doubt influenced Jimmy Paige, Clapton, Jeff Beck in particular! A jazz guitarist, but the tight notes and patterns just scream the electric guitar solo might be next... 2 1 1 Link to comment

These guys upbeat stuff is wicked; but i listen to these kinda tunes for hours & days when I need a lift! Haven't seen Nicky since before Covid. Man I miss him, he is such a gentle soul. Hopefully I will catch up with him over summer. I caught up with him at the Cherry Bar about 3 years ago. When Bill founded that bar it instantly became a place where musos would hang out, especially after gigs. The number of bands the Pyscho's have toured with is insane. Seeing them in December however Rocket died a while back and Bill and Knighty had a falling out, I think over the bar, so the only original member is Knighty. As you know the last four years of my life have been hell and I am still having problems. I was going to gigs still for the first couple of years however as you know Covid screwed everything. I saw that you went to Blues Fest and the Photos, would have been awesome. Just gotta get my $hit together however it's so freakin hard under the circumstances. On that note 1 1 1 Link to comment

Speaking of Led Zeppelin, I posted this over at the "What are you currently reading" thread but I'll re-post it here: On 7/26/2022 at 3:29 PM, UnkNuk said: Led Zeppelin: The Biography by Bob Spitz (2021) "Drugs and money had corrupted the organization." So writes author Bob Spitz in his massive (500+ pages) biography of the biggest rock band of the seventies. And it pretty much sums up the book's story. Spitz covers the band's history from its formation in 1968 to its end with the death of drummer John Bonham on September 24, 1980. And quite a history it is. All the albums are covered, as are the major tours. In it, we learn that Jimmy Page, prior to putting the band together, had a successful career as a session musician, appearing on such singles as Petula Clark's "Downtown" and Tom Jones' "It's Not Unusual". As he tried to make his way as a singer, Robert Plant had a backup plan - he was apprenticing as an accountant(!). We meet the band's manager, Peter Grant, who solved problems through forceful negotiations and just plain force. In covering the tours, Spitz doesn't shy away from the problematical issue of the band's cavorting with underage girls who threw themselves at the band. And he recounts the developing story of drug use which sadly ensnared the band, especially, Page, Bonham and Grant. Spitz has a very readable writing style so the pages go by quick. If you were/are a Led Zeppelin fan, I really recommend this book. Link to comment
UnkNuk
Time is limited. I don't know about the rest of you but when I come to this thread I usually just sample a few songs here and there for a minute or two (or half-minute), maybe zero in on a song I remember that someone has posted. I had a spare hour today and actually sat and listened, all the way through, to a bunch of songs on the last couple of pages. This crowd has a terrific taste in music. Very eclectic assortment. Bands and singers I've never heard of nor ever listened to. And they're good! This is a great thread. I only I wished I had more time to enjoy the offerings more often. Carry on. 1 1 Link to comment
