Watched a couple of classics this weekend (or should I say rewatched)

Big Trouble in Little China - 7/10 Pure cheesy fun

American Beauty - 9.5/10 Everything about this movie is fantastic. I could go on and on but don't want to bore anybody.

There is a scene in this movie however that makes me want to start a whole new thread about 'gripping movie scenes'.

The Apostle - 8.5/10

Great movie. I really have never been to a church that conducts its services like the ones in the film although I'm aware of the stereotype of the charismatic Pentecostal churches. I'm not an expert on Christian film or anything, but I think this is one of the most honest movies that deal with the faith. It shows the struggle, the failure, the human side of believers. Certainly better than "Bibleman". Robert Duvall gave a terrific performance. I thought Billy Bob Thornton would have a bit more of a significant role.

Just watched "equilibrium", I'd have to give it a 8/10. It's best comparison is a low budget "the matrix".

In the nation of Libria, there is always peace. The rules of the Librian system are simple. If you are happy, if you cry, if you have emotion of any kind, the law will hunt you down. If you read a book or so much as look at a painting, you've committed a crime. To keep the peace, citizens must take their daily doses Prozium, a powerful drug that stops feelings dead and keeps everyone on an even keel. Refuse to take the drug and the police will find you. Up until now, top-ranking government official John Preston has believed in this system, has upheld the system as a highly-trained "Cleric" (special forces of sorts) who seeks out and destroys those who don't take their pills. But then he skips his own dose of Prozium--and discovers an incredible new world that gives him the passion to fight.

I thought for sure you'd have posted about the a-team.

aside: saw the pilot episode of the a-team recently and dirk benedict was not faceman!

I haven't seen it yet. Although, from the trailers, I'm not really that interested. I'll see it eventually though.

As for the pilot, the producers wanted Dirk Benedict from the start, but the network executives got involved and wanted the other guy.
