The Last Airbender - 2.5/10

This was a movie I was really looking forward to seeing as it was based on a show that I quite liked, but once I saw the reviews, I shied away. Hell were the critics ever right.

I'll start with the positives:

- Dev Patel was pretty good, or at the least showed he has some range to his acting.

- Outside of that... umm... the costumes were decent, I guess.

The not so much:

The acting outside of Patel was downright horrible. The child actors were wooden and unconvincing. Though in particular, the worst of everyone had to have been Jackson Rathbone. Just about everything was wrong with his portrayal of Sokka. Though I guess that has a lot do with the writing, seeing as not only was just about every character's characteristics altered, but the entire tone was changed from the show. The show has a lighter comical tone to it, and my guess is that this was Shyamalan's attempt at making the story darker. The end result was just the poorest script adaption this side of "Dragonball Evolution."

Not only was the humour missing, but most major events were missing, or drastically altered (like the prison escape). And to fill the holes in the story, the dialogue was filled with exposition. I mean seriously, half of the time they were explaining what happened/was going to happen, when they could've, you know, showed it.

And to a bit of nit-picking, how did they mess up pronouncing half the names. Aang? Sokka? Iroh? Hell they couldn't even get "Agni Kai" right. It's not as if it's a "written source" up for interpretation, it's based on a cartoon where they kinda say the names aloud. Having White Eskimo's was also a lot more distracting then I was expecting. Also, Aang ran away from being the Avatar because he couldn't have a family? I lol'd.

After watching this movie, it's almost as if Shyamalan's career slip is tangible. At least The Happening was funny. This... This had nothing to redeem it. Nothing. I could only imagine how much worse this would've turned out if Jesse McCartney didn't have to bow out due to scheduling conflicts and get replaced by Dev Patel.

This has to be the worst movie of the year after "The Nightmare on Elm Street" remake.

I watched My Soul to Take... payed 8.99 RIPOFF for tuesday movie... usually 5.66 LOL

It was 3D... Its the second worst 3D movie I ever seen... the 3D sucked hardcore...

The story was kinda cool... Wouldn't recommend it 5/10... I would rather it wasn't 3D... but story was alright, kind of scary.

Also finally watched Troy for the first time Monday night... I had high expectations. It was good, not like everyone says. Boy was Bloom (paris) a feline in the movie and pitt (achillies) was annoying!

83% for the movie. Quite intriguing. Very frustrating to watch for me, since both the troy princess told their father not to do something and he did and fked em up!

edit: are you ppl for real? Is that facebook movie good? Looks awful
