Congrats to Wally.

On another note, I have one complaint. Some fans who attend the games need to learn when it is and isn't appropriate to make noise. When the visiting team has the ball, feel free to make as much of a ruckus as you can. That's how you help the home team by causing confusion and false start penalties for the opposition. Conversely, when the home team has the ball, keep quiet until the ball is snapped to prevent confusion and false start penalties by the home team. I know those fans believe they're cheering on their team but they're actually hurting them due to the fact they're uneducated football fans. [/rant]

It's so frustrating, isn't it? Although we can't expect every fan to know the drill, when you get a whole section of people cheering when we're on offense it's a little counter productive. The drunks just need to be heard I guess. But I've commented on this before in this thread - it's fairly simple. They have the ball - GO NUTS. We have the ball - keep quiet so that they can get the play off. It isn't rocket science but some get too caught up in the hoopla and not enough in the actual game.

What a game in Saskatchewan

Right down to the wire

Eskies win 31-27 with a late TD

3 teams tied at 6-5, with BC at 5-6, its still anyones division, the Lions are still in it

Worst comes to worst, the Lions wil crossover into the east, as both Toronto and Winnipeg are 3-8

Pretty much a given that there will be a cross over this year. I'm going to the Grey Cup in Calgary, I hope to god the Lions are playing.

VANCOUVER — Quarterback Casey Printers had discussions Sunday about signing a practice roster agreement with the B.C. Lions that would represent the first chance to pump life back in a career which has laid dormant for nearly a year.

It’s a long way from the six-figure offer Lions head coach and general manager Wally Buono made to Printers in 2005 trying to keep him from going to the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. Contracts of that nature eventually come to those who work within Buono’s structure, even if they were the CFL’s most outstanding player five years ago.

But it’s a start for a 28-year-old quarterback who has been passed over already this season by some of the most offensively-challenged teams in the league when looking for rebuilding parts.

And the initial take by Buono is that he could soon have four quarterbacks in camp, though the Lions could actually be thinner than they’d like when they start to prepare for Friday’s road game against the Calgary Stampeders.

“We’ve reached out,” Buono admitted after Saturday’s 23-17 win over the Toronto Argonauts at BC Place.

“With the people I’ve spoken with, the process has been agreeable. We need help. (Printers) is the quickest, fastest learner. If the past has served him well then maybe he would be a guy that could help us.”

Top of mind for the Lions on Sunday was whether to let current starting quarterback Buck Pierce sit out practice Monday in order to rest the sore ribs suffered against Toronto. It is the perpetual injury status of Pierce and the likelihood that Jarious Jackson is done for the season with a torn rotator cuff that has caused Buono to call to the quarterbacking bullpen.

The next move is whether Printers wants to take the smallest first step possible toward what once would have seemed like an improbable reunion.

Buono last had to manage a team which had multiple quarterbacking injuries two years ago and reached out to another former quarterback who had familiar with his offensive scheme, Ben Sankey.

Sankey, however, was cut in 2007 as soon as Jackson was healthy enough to replace Pierce. To avoid a repeat scenario, Printers has hired longtime CFL agent Gil Scott to represent him, TSN reported.

But the Lions coach/GM made it very clear that if the quarterback is seeking an immediate contract of substance, he’ll look for someone else.

“(Printers) is willing to put himself in a tough position, and I understand what we’re getting into. But this will have nothing to do with his agent. If that’s the situation then we’ll move on,” Buono said.

Anything else connected with the prospective signing, including whether Printers is even in shape to make a comeback, was cloudy.

Buono took the unusual step of imposing a news blackout Sunday. Printers did likewise, heeding a suggestion from the coach not to return calls from the Vancouver Province, though he has been speaking routinely with TSN and selected local media outlets, a move which had a polarizing effect in the past.
