It's hard to explain, but simply, they are not on the roster, but are allowed to practise with the team on a daily basis. Sean Whyte was one of those non-counters until he signed a contract. Josh Boden was another one of those guys. This year, it's Andrew Harris and Bart Archdekin.

Im not a very big CFL/Lions fan, so thats why Im lacking a little in knowledge. But I won a pair of Season tickets to the Lions 2010 at Empire Field.

There Section 217 Row HH, Bronze Seating.

(Face Value $25) ..See I dont know if Lions seats sell for face value, or If there like Nucks where you'll pay $60 for a $30 Facevalue ticket.

How much are these worth if I sold them?

keytothecup - I'm p/m'ing you. :)

Game today - 2:00 on 1410 (vs the Riders). Good to get things underway...be interesting to see how we stack up this year with all the changes. I like the demand for a strong work ethic and change of attitude from Wally & the coaching staff.

Go Lions :towel:

VANSTONE: Exhibition games don't mean too much

REGINA— Pre-season football is often a somniferous spectacle. In many respects, Sunday's CFL exhibition game on Taylor Field was no exception.

During the seemingly interminable second half, the most popular questions in Section 204 were: (a) "What was that?''; (B) "Who was that?''; and, © "When is the 50-50 draw?'' Pity the poor coaches who, equipped with remote controls and hopefully some Tylenol 3, have to watch it again . . . and again . . .

The verdict — B.C. Lions 19, Saskatchewan Roughriders 17 — was irrelevant. As Riders head coach Ken Miller so aptly put it in his post-game yak session with the media: "This is a good measuring stick for individuals. It's not a good measuring stick for our team.''

The final 30 minutes were virtually bereft of meaning. The second half featured more wanna-bes than Canadian Idol auditions. The only answers of any substance were provided during the first half — which began inauspiciously, of course, when the timing went awry for the playing of the national anthem.

The coach-to-quarterback headsets were also on the fritz. That was evident when one of the play calls from the bench was "one double Whopper, two large fries and a chocolate shake.'' Hut!

"It was pre-season for a lot of people,'' Miller correctly stated.

Given that, it is important to put an asterisk beside virtually any appraisal of an exhibition game. After all, many of the plays — and perhaps a few of the players — will be forgotten by the time this column is published.

That said, here are the conclusions that can be drawn at this preliminary juncture of the season — preceded by asterisks, of course . . .

* Barring something entirely unforeseen, Ryan Dinwiddie will be the Roughriders' second-string quarterback to begin the 2010 campaign. The offence was generally dormant without Dinwiddie at the controls. He completed 13 of 19 passes for 141 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. It should have been three touchdowns and no interceptions, actually. Two plays before the pickoff, an apparent touchdown pass from Dinwiddie to Jason Clermont was called back because a wide receiver, Cary Koch, was offside.

* Clermont looked like, well, himself. Free of the injuries that encumbered him last season, the Regina-born slotback was also able to free himself from defenders. If not for the aforementioned penalty to Koch, Clermont would have caught two touchdown passes on Sunday. This has to be an encouraging sign for Clermont, who deserves to enjoy a solid year after so professionally enduring what was, from an individual perspective, a lost season in 2009.

* Any questions about Weston Dressler's health were quickly answered. His only reception, on a deep out pattern, produced 24 yards. He also had a 53-yard touchdown pass from Darian Durant called back due to a holding penalty assessed to left tackle Joel Bell.

* Rob Bagg, who suffered a broken collarbone in the 2009 Grey Cup, also made a smooth return from injury. He caught five passes for 68 yards, including a touchdown. While Bagg was en route to the end zone, Roughriders slotback Chris Getzlaf emulsified the legendary Hamid Mahmoudi with a crunching block. "Anytime you get an opportunity like that, it feels good,'' Getzlaf said. "It's just like making a catch. If you're able to make a block that springs someone, it's as good as making any catch.''

* Rookie linebacker Byron Bullock lived up to the training-camp hype. He registered four defensive tackles, a pass knockdown in the end zone, and a Getzlaf-type hit. "He's going to be a guy who will be around here for a while, I think,'' Miller said of Bullock.

* Miller also singled out two non-import defensive ends — veteran Luc Mullinder and rookie Shomari Williams. The latter was the first overall pick in the 2010 CFL draft. Import defensive end Joe Sykes also had his moments, although none of the aforementioned linemen had a quarterback sack on Sunday.

* The pulled beef sandwich, Hoovered by one unidentified member of the Leader-Post reporting staff before the game, was (burp) excellent.

* And the best news of all? The 2010 home pre-season schedule is done like dinner. All rejoice!

They wouldn't have said that had they won.

Yup, typical redneck nation banter right there after a loss

BC has always had the riders number, and seem to be the one team that can win in their stadium, we're a threat and theyre scared again.

Man I cant stand that team or their fans

Was lucky enough to be front row for the WF when we clobbered them.

I also won't soon forget that they pelted our bench with debris, forcing them out into the middle of the field mid game once.

They should be scared.
