silverpig
The concessions issue is probably because they were planning for ~25k, and no one thought to increase food/capacity to serve the 50k+ crowd.

Horny Manatee
Am I the only one who thinks the "open roof" is a bit of a joke? It's such a small opening. Not to mention the cables that cover up like 20% of the opening.

Markus Alexander Cody
Gahhh I was working concession that night on Friday at the 200 level and it seemed like the lines would never end. My stand ran out of chicken fingers midway into the second quarter. Then we ran out of chicken sandwiches and fries prior to halftime. Then we had no beef patties during halftime and only had fries. then we only had chicken sandwiches and by that time, it was closing. It was just terrible. Too many angry and impatient customers to deal with. Especially the beer. Had some inexperienced beer pourers and created lots of foam in the cups causing lots of drama between alcoholics. One guy even said that the beer one of my coworkers were pouring wasn't Budweiser even though it was clearly from the Budweiser cap. Oh well, hopefullly Saturday is better. At least yesterday's Whitecaps game was better. Fully stocked ready to go, better planning compared to that disastrous night I had to endure. almo89
I was at the game and I had a blast. I never usually buy anything at the concessions because I usually eat before the game, but I was late to the game, so I had to pick something up at the stadium. I lined up for 30 mins and when I got to the front, they said they ran out of cheeseburgers. I ended up with something I didn't want. It didn't ruin the experience for me. Once I got to my seat, I didn't leave it. I paid to go see a football game in a world class stadium and that's what I got. It's unfortunate that a lot of the fringe fans will probably not go back due to the bad experience with the concessions.
Canuck_4_Life
Certain things happened on Friday that Pavco had no control over. How is it their fault if 20% of their workforce doesn't show up? Is it their fault that not all employees were trained enough? Yes and No. In a megaproject where the completion date is the same night of the first event, there are certain parts that can't be controlled. If the sub-trades in charge of the kitchen area of the concession stand are late in getting done, it pushes everything back and puts Pavco/Centerplate in a bind. Onto the issue of was enough food ordered? That's a tougher one to answer. 1 week prior, there were only 34K tickets sold. The Lions had hoped to sell this game out (52500). Was that information passed onto Pavco, operators of BC Place, and Centerplate, the guys who manage the food?
SarcasticPerson
Personally I always eat before going to events. I remember during the Olympics, I ate way before the late night hockey games since the concessions were and still are ridiculous. Some people find that they need food so they should be aware of what they'll be sacrificing by eating at the event. Sounds like some people expected the lines to just be super quick which is unrealistic.

WZRD
I'm glad Winnipeg is also opening up their new stadium in 2012. All of these improved and new stadiums will be good for the CFL. Also, is the Skycam that TSN used only a one time thing? The NFL has had that for a while now and it looks good. Just like at hockey games shown on TSN during power plays, they show the game from the camera up on the glass behind the goalie and it's just another great view of the game. Canuck_4_Life
How much of an increased cost is it to have skycam up there? Could it be a part of the new TV deal? For a venue like BC Place, it's a lot of work to do for 10 events, especially with the Whitecaps season underway before the Lions start.

BurnabyJoe
As per Farhan Lalji's twitter, it looks like they will bring it back for the playoffs. This is an upgrade as the skycam was only used for Grey Cup's in the past. The next step is to use it for all regular season games. It's amazing how one extra camera can improve the CFL TV experience that much
