Luongo for Lecavalier

Recommended Posts

With 5.912 million dollars of cap-space, we could add another top 6 forward if Michael Grabner/Mikael Samuelsson can't produce top 6 numbers. Or a solid 3rd line center. Also with this much cap-space, it could be possible, that we negate the 'Dennis Seidenberg' trade, and have 9.912 cap-space, and sign a #1 defenseman such as - Scott Niedermayer, Anton Volchenkov or Sergei Gonchar.

'lol' at who?

Bernier would be 4th amongst Islander wingers in scoring, while only getting 3rd line minutes in Vancouver. Plus the chance that he could start to reach his potential with more minutes.

de Haan has taken a step backwards this season. Going from 63 points in 68 games in his draft year (second on his team), to being on pace for 48 points in the same amount of games - 9th on Oshawa. Maybe it was being on a power play with Tavares that made him?

I like this second idea even more, if we're going to have that much cap space.

It would definitely be in improvement on this year's team if we brought in a true number 1.

Pavel Kubina is another UFA that could be a good addition.

34 points in 59 games so far. (Already on pace for 47 points, could put up more, considering he as 6 points in his last 5 games).

68 hits.

93 blocked shots (2nd on the Thrashers, behind only Bogosian who has 94 and has played one more game).

45-30 takeaway-to-giveaway ratio.

Logs more minutes that anyone on the Thrashers, including Enstrom.

+ 6

40 points in each of his last two seasons.

Has a career high of 17 goals.

Yeah, I think he's quite underrated. He IS slightly overpaid, but he's a very a good defenseman.

I think at 4.25-4.5 million he would be bargain.

Very true, Pavel can be a very good addition for the right price.

Mason Raymond to Phoenix for a 2nd round pick in 2010, Jared Staal and a 5th round pick in 2011.

Why? Raymond fits into Phoenix's bulding plan. Demitra and Kesler compliment each other, Kesler just makes Raymond a better player. Grabner will be NHL ready. Phoenix has enough prospects/young players to let Staal go. They will realize once the playoffs begin, they need a bit more offensive depth.

Steve Bernier, Kevin Bieksa to the New York Islanders for a 2nd round pick in 2010 David Toews and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2011 if either Bernier scores over 20 goals in 2010 or Bieksa scores over 10 goals in 2010.

Why? The Islanders have no offense and need a PP partner for their quarterback Streit. Nobody wants to sign with the joke who is Charles Wang, however, these two are already on a contract. Toews hasn't been developing quite as expected anyway.

Waive: Darcy Hordichuk

Re-sign Kesler for 4.66 million over 4 or 5 years.

Re-sign Demitra for 3 over 2 years.

Re-sign Shane O'Brien for 1.875 million over 1 year.

Re-sign Jannik Hansen for 850,000 over 1 year.

Re-sign Cory Schneider for 845,000 over 3 years.

Sign Pavel Kubina for 4.25 million over 3 years or 4.5 million over 2 years.

Sign Rob Niedermayer for 900,000 over 1 year.

Sign Tomas Holmstrom for 1.8 million over 1 year.

Sign Martin Skoula/Noah Welch/Doug Janik for 500,000 over 1 year.

OK, so I personally feel that the two areas this team should look to improve this off-season is trying o get a younger, faster defense and improving the third line. I feel the majority of improvement in the forward group will come from within the organization, with maybe a third line winger being added. tried to keep it simple with only two UFA signings and one trade, the rest are re-signings or prospects moving up So keeping this in mind here is my proposal.

Signings:

Anton Volchenkov-4 years at 4

Dan Hamhuis-4 years at 4

Ryan Kesler-6 years at 4.25

Mason Raymond-3 years at 3

Jannik Hansen-3 years at 0.8

Tanner Glass-3 years at 0.8

Alexander Bolduc-3 years at 0.8

Trades:

To St. Louis:

Steve Bernier

Cory Schnieder

Kevin Bieksa

To Vancouver:

Patrick Berglund

1st Round Pick

OR

Patrick Berglund

Roman Polak

2nd Round Pick

Sedin(6.1)-Sedin(6.1)-Burrows(2)

Raymond(3)-Kesler(4.25)-Grabner(0.85)

Berglund(1.25)-Hodgson(0.85)-Samuelsson(2.5)

Hansen(0.8)-Bolduc(0.8)-Glass(0.8)

Rypien(0.55)

Forwards=29.85

Volchenkov(4)-Hamhuis(4)

Salo(3.5)-Edler(3.25)

Ehrhoff(3.1)-Alberts(1)

Polak(1.1)/UFA defense-man @ ~1

Defense=19.95

Luongo(5.3)

Raycroft(0.7)

Goalies=6

Cap hit=55.8

So what does everybody think? Realistic or not? Achievable or not? Does this make our team better? Which return do you prefer in the trade? Please give some reasoning to, not just this sucks or unrealistic.

^ this looks pretty good

but i´m not sure about a volchenkov signing

i guess we would also have a good d with

edler

salo

ehrhoff

alberts

hamhuis

o´brien

keep rome for depth even most of the fans hate him...he wasnt that bad lately

and lolz at grabner on the 2nd line again

and i ve doubts that hodgson will meke the team next season

we need a solid 3rd line center...maybe wellwood again?

or demo for less money

If we win the cup this year than we might not want to do much. If not we might want to reconsider signing many of our free agents. I'm not going to suggest who to replace with whom or anything like that just interesting players that we might have a shot at. Like Hornqvist or Setoguchi, both sitting at under a million a year. Ladd would be a realistic pick up. Svatos could be sweet but Colorado is a young team so I'm sure they can aford to keep him.

Plus I think we should send an offer to Lidstrom. Not that I think he would ever leave Detroit. He's 41 now so I bet he retires a Red Wing but wouldn't he be a great new mentor for Edler. We probably have better luck getting Rob Blake or Adam Foot. I bet Gillis throws a decent offer at Hamhuis this summer though. My friend played junior against him and said he was the only player he couldn't knock down, just solid.

Not that I want them back even if it was possible but the west coast express is all up for ufa this year. Wouldn't it be funny to see the three of them playing in Toronto next year.

oops sorry thanks for the move.
