goalie13
Not that I want them back even if it was possible but the west coast express is all up for ufa this year. Wouldn't it be funny to see the three of them playing in Toronto next year.
topbananas
Are you seriously suggesting that Naslund would come out of retirement for a chance to play with Bertuzzi and Morrison for a team that will likely not make the playoffs again?
silver_surfer
I realize that this may be a bit of a pipe dream. Predicated on the assumption that (despite what his douche of an agent says) Kes will demand on the low end of his market value, and that the success of the team in the upcoming offseason will encourage others to play for reasonable wages. Also assuming that Mitchell fully recovers from his concussion and finds a weak market for his services. I think the trades are fair, the Boston deal works well for both parties assuming that Salo is willing to waive his no trade clause, and that we are able to resign Wheeler. The St. Louis deal is a tough one. Many CDCers forget that you have to give talent to get it back. But we shouldn't discount the talent of Schneider either. I challenge anyone to point to a more highly regarded (expendable) goalie. A top 4 dman and an elite prospect for a franchise prospect. Don't forget they get an equipment boy/french translator in Bernier, never know when that might come in handy! Re-sign Kesler to a 5 year deal worth 4 mil per season Re-Sign Raymond to a 3 year deal worth 2.75 mil per season Re-Sign Mitchell to a 2 year deal worth 2 mil per season Resign O'Brien to a 2 year deal worth 1.75 per season Re-Sign Hansen to a 2 year deal worth $600,000 per season Re-Sign Lukowich to a 1 year deal worth $600,000 Re-Sign Glass to a 1 year deal worth $600,000 Sign Dan Hamhuis to a 5 year deal worth 3 mil per season Sign Brandon Prust to a 3 year deal worth .6 mil per season Waive: Andrew Alberts, Darcy Hordichuk Trades To Vancouver: Blake Wheeler To Boston: Sami Salo, Sergei Shirokov To Vancouver: Alex Pietrangelo To St. Louis: Cory Schneider, Kevin Bieksa, Steve Bernier Sedin (6.1)- Sedin (6.1)- Burrows (2) Raymond (2.75)- Kesler (4)- Samuelsson (2.5) Grabner (0.787)- Hodgson (0.875)- Wheeler (2.825) Prust (0.600)- Rypien (0.550)- Glass (0.600) Hansen (.600) Forward Cap Hit = 30.287 Ehrhoff (3.1)- Hamhuis (3) Pietrangelo (3.2)- Mitchell (2) Edler (3.25)- O'Brien (1.75) Lukowich (.6) Defence Cap Hit = 16.9 Luongo (5.33) Raycroft (0.5) Goalie Cap Hit (5.83) Total Salary = $53.

Patrick Kane
Laughable, Did you even read my post? Never have I considered or referred to Bernier as elite or as a prospect. I highly doubt that Montreal considers Halak expendable, and both Harding and Ellis had opportunities to be number ones but couldn't maintain consistency. Arguably not much of an improvement on Mason. Haven't had the opportunity to see Peters play so I can't offer a rebuttal on that one, but according to Hockey's Futures he was an ECHL All Star when Schneider getting AHL honors... Pity, my impression was that you put a little more thought into your posts...

alexanderovechkin8
You want us to win the Stanley Cup, right? If so, why would you want Gillis to trade away two impact roster players for picks and prospects that won’t make an impact for us now?
b3.
Cory Schneider will probably be the backup for us next year.
pylon05
Our 2010-11 line-up as I see it right now would look like this: Forwards Sedin 6.1 Sedin 6.1 Samuelsson 2.5 Burrows 2.0 Kesler 5.0 Grabner .844 Bernier 2.0 Hodgson 1.7 Raymond 1.75 Hordichuck .775 Rypien .55 Bolduc .75 Hansen .75 Glass .75 Defence Bieksa 3.75 Salo 3.5 Edler 3.25 Ehroff 3.1 Alberts 1.05 Oberg 1.563 Rome .75 Goalies Luongo 5.33 Schneider 1.5 Cap 56.800m Our cap 55.362m Bonuses 1.637m Cap hit minus bonuses 53.725m Available cap space 3.075m Bold = Player expected to make line up Underline = Player expected to resign to salary shown Italic = tradable assets Now that weve taken care of that part. Ok; Hodgson and Oberg should both be ready for action next year in our line up plain and simple. Put Hodgson on the third line and allow him to flourish, as well as Oberg in our third pairing or at the least rotate him with Rome. Remember we still have Shirokov, Ellington and Sauve in our system as well who can fill in for injury replacement. As for the players that we will resign. This is how it should break down: Kesler 6yr 30.0m Avg 5.0m After this he will receive Sedin type money. Raymond 4yr 7.0m Avg 1.75m Hes where Kesler was so this is what he should get. Schneider 3yr 4.5m Avg 1.5m Gillis says he wants to resign him and this it what I believe it will take. All of Bolduc Hansen Glass Rome 2yr 1.5m Avg .75m These guys are our role players. As for my tradable assets Bernier and Beiksa; I feel we could do better getting a few draft picks in return and/or maybe some assets. Then use there combine salaries plus our available cap space ( 9.1m in total ) to upgrade our current roster. I also believe we maybe able to make a trade for something better. I know some of you may flame me for this but I believe over the long term this would strengthen our club for years to come: At the draft To Was Bernier Beiksa Tochkin 1st rounder in 2010 2nd rounder in 2011 To Van Rights to Backstrom 3rd rounder in 2011 Then we sign Backstrom to a 6yr 30.0m same as Kesler. This leaves us with 4.6m to replace Beiksa with Dan Hamhuis which we could get him around 3.5m 4.0m per season over 5yrs Our new line up: Forwards Sedin 6.1 Sedin 6.1 Samuelsson 2.5 Burrows 2.0 Kesler 5.0 Backstrom 5.0 Grabner .844 Hodgson 1.7 Raymond 1.75 Hordichuck .775 Rypien .55 Bolduc .75 Hansen .75 Glass .75 Defence Hamhuis 3.50 Salo 3.5 Edler 3.25 Ehroff 3.1 Alberts 1.05 Oberg 1.563 Rome .75 Goalies Luongo 5.33 Schneider 1.50 This would leave us with about .350m in cap space which is comfortable. ReverendMayhem93
What I'd like to see is: Sedin-Sedin-Burrows Raymond-Kesler-Samuelsson Shirokov-Hodgson-Schroeder Rypien-Johnson-Hansen Wellwood Edler-Ehrhoff Salo-Hamhuis Bieksa-O' Brien Rome Luongo Schneider Inject some youth into the lineup and get rid of some of the older guys in Demo, Bernier and demoting Welly to fourth line spare...TBH I have no idea what to do with him because he looks like a solid 2nd liner one night and other nights he looks like he should be a healthy scratch. Also get rid of mitchell, great guy I hate to see him leave, but is necessary to compete with faster teams like Chicago who seem to own our souls :| I think our third line will be great as they could become defensively capable from their time in Manitoba, from what I've heard this is what Shiro has been doing, Schroeds could be doing and we all know about Cody. Also a third line that has great scoring potential if our top 2 lines are shut down. Our first/second line is interchangeable on the right wing with Sammy and Burr. Bottom line is this is a team that could take on the Chicago's and Washington's and Pittsburgh's.
