GLASSJAW
Anyone goin? Victoria largely sucks for concerts (though it's gettin better quite quickly). Rifflandia also usually sucks. But this year is pretty good. Highlights are definitely: Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - his new album recently got huge praise from the entire indie world, namely Pitchfork who gave it a 9.0 Aesop Rock - underground hip hop legend (is that safe to say?) i ain't into rap, but even i know this guy Gord Downie - tragically hip front man. is his solo stuff good? MSTRKRFT - only one member will be there, touring as JFK (he's Jesse F. Keeler, the Death From Above 1979 dude). But it's MSTRKRFT. The Dodos - Folk rock band. Released an amazing album in 08 called "Visiter" (seriously great). Followed it up with a slightly disappointing yet decent album last year. Lee Ranaldo - One of the founding members of legendary band Sonic Youth. This dude very rarely tours solo, so I've got no idea what he's going to do. There's a chance it'll just be noise noise noise. Also featuring Canadian folk musicians Chad Van Gaalen, Great Lake Swimmers, Sarah Harmer. Melissa auf der Maur, Hot Hot Heat, The Gaslamp Killer and Frog Eyes as well. MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED (according to the website). wrist bands for the festival are $65 and available now. CDC meet up drink up, wear your plaid and skinniest jeans and chuck taylors Ariel Pink - Round and round (stick with it, it's a damn great song) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6SZIVvbg8U
