what's the over/under for this thread to eclipse the Cody Hodgson thread in pages(250)?

I have a feeling this thread will go until

a: he's traded

b: the end of the season if he's not

c: we all get banned for having no more agruments and all we have left is name calling and the thread just dies away cause their's no one left to post
What? Bieksa doesn't usually plays against the top players in the league!

Even with the currently depleted Canuck D, he is not in the top pairing. The fact is he may have played a few games as a top pairing guy, but never on a regular basis because he is a small inept defender, with a career minus 19.

Salo is a career +/- plus 110, or Mitchell is a career plus 88, Those two guys have been the Nuck's who have played against the top players in the league, not sad sack #3.
BTW , BXa has now gone 10 games without a point, so he obviously is no offensive juggernaut either.
Actually out of his own mouth he said his current role was to shut down the other teams top line. As it was when he was paired with Hamhuis earlie in the season. So basically his role has been a shut down role since the start of the season.

You said he was terrible defensively and I argued if he is that bad defensively then why did he play against Kovalchuk all night, one of the leagues best 1 on 1, and Bieksa did a great job.

Probably because I choose to make my determination of a players ability in various areas of the game based on more than one game. Bieksa is defensively suspect overall (I personally would categorize him as terrible, but that is a matter of opinion for sure). However, not many would argue that at the very least it is not his strong suit.

If your theory is correct, to follow your logic, since Andrew Alberts scored a goal this season, should he now be considered a better offensive dman than Bieksa, who has 0 goals? No, I dont think so. One game means nothing.

Let Bieksa bring an effective defensive game for more than a game or two at a time, like say a whole season where he is consistently that good, then start calling him a great defensive dman. You telling me to watch and learn something is pretty hilarious. Maybe you should take your own advice if you think one game should be the litmus test for a players ability, whether you think he is good or bad.

Once again thanks for proving that you don't even watch the games and simply talk sh@t. Because I actually watch the game, I can tell you that it was Bieksa playing against Kovalchuk last night. Yes Kovalchuk, one of the league best 1on1 players, and yes it was Bieksa defending against him, and yes Bieksa did a great job defensively.

Your +/- stat that you like to imput into every page is a crap stat, every player in the league will will tell you it's a useless stat.

I guess it would help if you actually knew that game and could come out with some logical posts, but I'll continue to come on here and read your crap everyday and my coworkers and I can laugh at your constant crap.

Considering Henrik is an offensive player, should he not have had his 1st goal long before his 10th game? So how does your logic work?

Bieksa has always seemed delusional to me. He either seems to think he's Bobby Orr and ends up giving the puck away or he plays with a slack assed air of casualness that usually ends up with his brain farts allowing the opposition to get a scoring opportunity. I can't believe all the KB fan boys saying what a great game Bxa had when all he did was manage his first game this year where his gaffes didn't cost the team a goal.

There is a reason Bobby Lou was the first star, because the defense in front of him was less than stellar, BTW Kovi had a couple of outstanding scoring opportunities and the only reason he didn't score was LOuuuu, not BXa.

Kovy didn't have that many good scoring chance and that was because of good defensive hockey. Lu got 1st star because he got a shutout. Comeon now, you can't be this ignorant. Bieksa had a good game defensively and made some nice pinches offensively.

lol, I guess they should have made BXa the first star last night then eh? Frack he wasn't even the 10th star. Bobby Lou made at least 3 'sure goal' saves on Kovi last night. He saved KB from having another minus +/- night despite the Canuck win. lol Bieksa's defensive game, like your post, is pure crap.

Your opinion of Bieksa's state of mind does not change the reality that he has been played in a shut down role pretty much this entire season.

Kovy maybe had 1 good chance last night where both forwards dove in from of him but I don't see how you can blaim that on Bieksa, plus I think the puck was going over the net. There's a bunch of times that Kovy came down 1on1 vs Bieksa and Bieksa stood him up = solid game defensively

I am not calling Bieksa 1st star, I am saying he had a good game. Stop trying to reword my posts just because you don't know what you are talking about.

Actually, in the past 5 years Henrik has scored one goal every 4.5 games or so. So, he should have 2 goals by now based on that. Considering his point totals are above a point per game and he is a pass-first type of player, he is pretty much where he should be offensively overall.

And, what exactly is your point anyway? You are bringing one of the most consistent offensive players in the game into the argument for what reason again?

And Bieksa should have 4-ish points by now.

Probably true, I didnt check. Although, my post had nothing to do with Bieksas offensive production at all.

Henrik was brought into the discussion for no good reason at all. To be technical, Henrik has 1.2 PPG so far this season. Over the last 4 years his PPG was about 1.04. So sampy is bringing up a point that is useless to the discussion. Henrik is actually ahead of his offensive rate of production based on the last 5 years (the time frame that he has basically been a PPG player in the NHL).

EDIT: And, just for the record, I give Bieksa more credit than you do. I think he is a decent dman in his own right and that his value is not solely determined by who he plays with.

Bieksa is defensively suspect overall (I personally would categorize him as terrible, but that is a matter of opinion for sure).

Just curious as to how you would reconcile these two statements, Wallstreet.

For the sake of accuracy...Willie Mitchell was never an NHL all-star. Number 1 in our hearts perhaps, and recipient of the Babe Pratt award twice, yes...but never an all star defenceman. He wasn't a highly skilled defenceman either. He was a good shutdown, stay at home, defensive defenceman, who allowed KB to join rushes and pay more mind to offensive contributions with the forwards.

You waste your time, he really doesn't get it.

What I got from the last few pages... Bieksa needs a babysitter to look decent most nights (yes occasionally he can do one on his own).

Wasn't Ballard cKB'ing Kovy? I couldn't watch the game just heard radio. Shot blocking maybe 4 shots of his but credited with one?
