Kevin Bieksa you are really...

I hear ya. And I hope that some consistency will develop in his game over the course of the season. There'll be times when has night like this and there'll be times when he has night opposite of this. I just hope and knock on wood that there is an evenness to his overall game. As long as he keeps chipping in now and then and focusing on his defensive responsibilities, most of us will be satisfied.

He picked his spots pretty well to play an aggressive game offensively tonight (of course, I wanted to see him tone it down a bit at the end there, but overall really good decisions), but at the same time kept it pretty simple on defence. I think that is really the formula for success with him.

Hopefully this post and my last post will at least show some that I am not a blind Bieksa hater and that I can give him credit where its due...... ;)

Nah...you're not a blind hater...just a little near-sighted. No worries though...a few of us chipped in and got you the Lasik! :P

Just bugging ya. I agree with the simplicity. That'll be his bread and butter, if he doesn't get too panicked in his own end. Just make quick passes to the forward or to his partner when behind the net. Make simple plays off the boards when in doubt...don't hold on to the puck too long..lest you get hit behind the net and it turns into a goal. ;) Keep. It. Simple. Stupid. needs to be his game plan for sustained success.

Bieksa has one good game and all the kids say "I told you Bieksa was good".

Keep up...

It's a 140 page thread though, nobady ca really fault you for not I guess.

This was what I qould qualify as a great game, and not just because of the 3 points. He's had a few good games this season, the devils game for the most recent example. He's also had bad ones.

I don't get it, people bitch because Bieska doesn't pinch anymore.

Then when he pinches and has 3 points on the night, people still complain.

Do you not realize that a forward covering his defensive position when he pinches is in the game plan?

First period saw a great example of this from Malhtra. Perfectly covered Bieksa when he was in a better position to pressure the play.

Kevin Bieksa is a better than average NHL defenceman. He will get you about a point every 2 games (on average over his career)... He will make mistakes every game, as most NHL players do, and some of them will lead to scoring opportunities and goals against... He takes ill-advised penalties from time to time, as many players do... He tries his best to stand up for his teammates... He plays with a scowl and is gritty... He is well liked in the room, from what I can understand... His skating and mobility are improving to where they were before his injuries... why wouldn't you want this guy on your team?

I tried to do a Bieksa poll a couple of weeks ago and it got locked. Before it did, there were overwhelmingly more people who thought Bieksa belonged on our team. If he keeps his play simple and does the little things right, he will be a benefit to the Canucks on most nights.

Well said.

Someone said it in a different thread but If Bieksa is the biggest problem on your team then you've got no worries. (or something along those lines.)

Juice is a better leader on this team than Hank.

The most skillful player on the team should not necessarily be made captain.

Juice is a leader on our team.

Regardless of who wears the "C", leaders are leaders. You don't have to have a letter on your chest to be a leader. A good leader inspires others to follow him / her to reach a common goal. Hank does this through example, as does Danny. Kesler, Bieksa, Burr, Lou... the list goes on. There are lots of leaders on the Canucks, KB is just one of them.

Hank led the league in scoring last year... a couple of big awards... he leads by example. Without desire and all out effort, he would never have reached these heights. Hank is not the leader because he is the most skillful player, he is our Captain because he plays his ass off every night quietly, a la Linden. There's a lot of Trevor in the Twins, no?

edit: Look at your username, Darcy Rota. Another example of a leader who led with a stare that could burn a hole through your skull not because he had a letter over his heart. Don't need a letter, dude!

lol. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You see Bxa and seem to think he is a capable and talented NHLer, I watch him play and think, man that guy could be a star,.... in the ECHL.biggrin.gif

It's a good thing you used that emoticon to show how you think this post is funny, because no-one else does....

It's not the first time someone has shoveled the puck into their net. Who cares.

The second is pretty bad. Maybe it's water flavored vodka in his bottle or something. Not sure what the hell was going on there.

Haven't you ever played? This sort of thing has happened to anyone who has more than a half a dozen or so years invested in the game. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.

Bieksa has one good game and all the kids say "I told you Bieksa was good".

He's had more than one good game. However, I understand that counting is not your strong suit.

Nope, I was merely saying it with a smile, sometimes the truth is funny. Life can imitate art, as in Bieksa usually lives up to his image, as per the post below.biggrin.gif

Yep he had a decent game, IMO he still ....
