wallstreetamigo
Are you ever ignorant . Why do you think the coach has picked Juice to wear the A ? Do you think teams pick crappy players for leadership roles ? Have you ever played on a sports team ? You were most likely the last one picked in your highschool PE class for games. Just when I thought you couldnt make yourself look more ridiculous. I am pretty sure the fact that he has good leadership qualities, is well liked in the room (apparently), and is a veteran on the team all have more to do with his being named A than whether or not he is the best player on the team. Typically nowadays captains are the best player on the team and assistants are other guys with good leadership qualities. Bieksa has those qualities for sure, but that does not make him the best dman or player on the team skill-wise. You make it obvious that you have never played on a sports team, unless maybe professional tiddlywinks or something. I was actually always picked top 3 in PE now that you mention it, but that doesnt really matter much anyway, now does it?
Veskit
Darcy, you better do some research before posting. It was stated in an early interview that they let Hank pick his own 'A's. There is speculation that Beiksa was picked to try and give him more leadership responsibility hoping it would elevate his game. The second part hasn't been confirmed anywhere though. As far as I'm concerned, Bieksa has been doing quite well this season, and this is before his 3 Assist night. His usual plays of self-destruction have really been smaller this year, and less catastrophic. His positioning has been better, and his ability to hold the puck in on the lines is underrated by many here in my opinion. It's no wonder to me why he gets power play time as most times he'll keep a puck in when it's rung around the boards, and yet I'll see Edler miss some of those pucks and be sent chasing. Just because the Sedin's are so reliant on puck possession I'd like to see more of Juice on the 1st power play unit. I'll take my leave and get my raincoat for all the sheer hate I'm sure I'm going to draw for that comment though.
Darcy Rota
I stand corrected then. I thought he only picked the A's for the preseason. Can you provide links ?

hank&dan
Oh my god, the Kyle Wellwood quote in your sig is AMAZING The Wellwooders were much the same as the Bieksa fans. Caught in a sad reality.
Sharpshooter
Resorting to personal insults because you realize you've been shot down on all your latest anti-Bieska tirades? I like to term it as a flailing fail or failing flail.

wallstreetamigo
Show me a link where it shows A's were picked for regular season . The As were rotated to different players throughout the preseason and once Henrik was named he said he named the As....Daniel and Kesler at home, Bieksa and Malhotra on the road. find the article on the Province website that announces Hank being named captain if you REALLY doubt that so many of us are telling the truth. Sharpshooter
Show me a link where it shows A's were picked for regular season . Here you go. Sedin picked the team's four alternate captains -- two for the road and two for home. They are his brother, Daniel, Ryan Kesler, Manny Malhotra and Kevin Bieksa. "It means a lot," Bieska said. "It's an honour obviously to be selected." Baggins
Lol....Darcy, God love ya pal, but it was Henrik who picked his assistants, not the coach. Dear Lord and Baby Jesus, why aren't you listening? The only place I've read that is from posters on this board without any valid source. I suspect it was speculation on a posters part that seems to have been accepted as fact. I've never heard of anybody but the GM & coach selecting who wear's the C and A's. The captain may well have input, but ultimately it's management that decides it.

I've never heard of a GM turning the choice purely over to the captain before. But then Gillis hasn't exactly played the typical GM since he's been here either. Baggins
You were saying? No worries, i'll give you a mulligan. Hey, when it happened I was in Vegas. Not a great city for hockey news, and I don't exactly go there to watch hockey. I come back and I hear Bieksa has an A. Then this Hank named him came up in a couple of threads and when I asked nobody provided a source. 1 + 1 = ? ....believe me it wouldn't have been the first time somebody posted something here that people have suddenly jumped on board and taken as gospel that was actually false.
