Sharpshooter
Hey, when it happened I was in Vegas. Not a great city for hockey news, and I don't exactly go there to watch hockey. I come back and I hear Bieksa has an A. Then this Hank named him came up in a couple of threads and when I asked nobody provided a source. 1 + 1 = ? ....believe me it wouldn't have been the first time somebody posted something here that people have suddenly jumped on board and taken as gospel that was actually false. I'm suprised you of all people didn't look it up for yourself. It's a simple google search....you know better than to rely on CDC for accuracy and to provide sources. It's a simple google search....you know better than to rely on CDC for accuracy and to provide sources. Just seemed a little too out there to be true. Like I said, I've never heard of a GM letting the captain select who wears the A's. I went to CDC to confirm Bieksa actually had an A but there was no mention there that it was Hanks choice. That was as far as I looked.
Baggins
Haha. I knew you had a couple of golf balls hidden away. You didn't need that mulligan. I left more than a couple hidden in the desert outside Vegas....
sampy
I have been a LONG time Canucks fan. I remember Marc Reaume's overtime winning goal to give the pre-nhl Canucks the championship over Portland. One thing I have noted in those years is how quickly our fans can turn on a player in attempts to run him out of town. Let's use our heads for a moment. If we continue to beat him down he will not play as well and there will be no market for him. But, if he plays well we have the luxury of either trading him for something worth having as opposed to a salary dump or we have another bonafide defenseman in our depth chart as has been so needed the past few years. I draw you attention to the Montreal Canadiens. The fans have ridden Carey Price and beaten him down like few I have seen in recent years. With a direct appeal to the fans from Price and his teammates, the fans in Montreal showed an incredible grace that is RARE in la belle province. And you will never guess what happened. As they encouraged and cheered him on he excelled and has been a great story thus far this year. Guys, we have an incredible opportunity to actually win it all. In order to do that we need to be behind our boys 110%. They feel a pressure to win because they are legitimate favorites. But remember, as soon as he dons the Canucks colors they are OURS! We win and lose as a team, including those of us who support them. I don't care if you like him or not. Encourage them. Cheer them on and lets have a celebration next June! Good post. Time to get off the bandwagon hank&dan and canuckelion or go back to your hole.
EmployeeoftheMonth
Henrik Sedin made him Assistant Captain for one thing, and that was only done because he wanted to give him confidence so that hopefully he would step up his game, but watching him make stupid mistakes game in and game out i can't help but to not like him. So you spoke with Hank before he made the decision and discussed his motivation?
EmployeeoftheMonth
Show me a link where it shows A's were picked for regular season . It's pretty common knowledge and was mentioned several times during the opening game.

We wouldn't want to step on ya, blind lover, lol. One good game and you think he's a Norris candidate.

I agree with this theory, and look it has resulted in 3 points in 11 games by Bieksa. If he keeps it up he will have 24 points, 2 more than this offensive dynamo had last year. He still may have a tough time matching his 3 goals of last year.
marc2001
So you spoke with Hank before he made the decision and discussed his motivation? That's right we went to Starbucks and discussed it before he made his choice. But jokes aside i believe it was what Dan Murphy said was the reason behind it, i will take his word for it considering how close he works to the Club. Well in all fairness he could score zero points for all i care if he played a very strong defensive game and therefore had a good +/- Rating. wallstreetamigo
Well in all fairness he could score zero points for all i care if he played a very strong defensive game and therefore had a good +/- Rating. 1. He is an offensive dman by trade. If he is not putting up points or at the very least constributing significantly to generating offense, he is not all that valuable. 2. He has never consistently played a very strong defensive game, what makes you think he would he start now? 3. +/- is practically useless as a stand alone determination of a players defensive game. _canucklehead
I have never seen so much hate continually directed towards a Canuck. How the fu*k can you mods continue to let these types of comments go on??? Please show a little more class people.

I would say probably because they don't breakny board rules and for the most part breed good discusion. It can't always be a love in.
CANUCKLELION
Ohlund isn't on the team currently, so that point is moot. And I didn't say Beiksa was more punishing than Alberts. I said, in my opinion, I think he is currently our "best"(define that however you like, as I have) hitter, and has been so consistently for a longer period of time than Alberts, considering Alberts has played only 35 ish regular season games for us. And, I also said I expect alberts to be a more punishing hitter than Bieksa, as his size and weight warrants such a distinction. If I said Bieksa was more punishing than Alberts, please quote it for me in your next response. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding or misperception for you. Edit - I may have not have clearly indicated that I meant Bieksa is the most aggressive hitter than any of his <current> d-mates, in the past as a Canuck. Still I said, consistently aggressive and not more punishing..again, partail blames lies in my omittance. Now you are just making crap up, Bieksa is a lightweight, last game, in the 1st period, he hit one guy, it was off side , but Bieksa bounced off him and landed on his butt, I laughed. later in the third period he got run over while attempting a check. Bieksa is not an effective defender nor a feared checker. His upside is as a supposedly offensive defenceman. If he has more games like the Edm. game, he will be doing his job. Ask anyone who ever played, what's worse getting hit by a 195 lb Dman or one 20 or 25 lbs more? IMO, Edler, Alberts and Salo + Rome hit harder simply because they weigh more, Ballard is a more skilled hitter,,(hip check king), and Hamhuis was a highly sought after shut down guy so obviously is more difficult to play against than BXa. Nope if Bxa isn't putting up points, all he is doing is making a big sucking sound.

When you lamely attempt to bypass the swear filter. To answer your question, there are a couple of people here that have legitimate concerns and criticisms...we discuss it as best as we can, again, for the most part. Sharpshooter
Well, another solid outing...Even rating...and pretty defencively sound...no glaring errors and no real mistakes....unless people feel like making an issuse of throwing the puck from out in front of the net and getting called for it. Hes been playing pretty well lately. I liked his rushes and pinches tonight. They were mostly at the right time, plus he had better communication with the forwrds who covered his spot on the point when he came in tonight. Well done all around I thought. vannuck1
Well Bieksa did have a average game, not real good not real bad he still needs to be more asertive with the puck his nonchalant flip passes gets him into trouble all the time its like he is trying to be cool.
