Kevin Bieksa you are really...

A good game for Bieksa tonight for sure. But really SS......look at our D. Is it really that hard to be the best on the ice right now? ;) The only one he has to beat right now is Ehrhoff who I thought actually had a pretty good game too, despite people already complaining about his -1 rating.

Though I understand your point WSA, it's about being the best no matter who's in or out of the lineup...and the way Kevin's been playing...it's about him being the best he can be.....i hope that doesn't come off too cliche.

btw way...he was hilarious tonight on after hours......one of the best interviews i've seen in awhile.

I think both Bieksa and Ehrhoff had strong games, they both stepped up when called upon. But I hope that winky face means you're not too serious about that comment ;) Bieksa was the best when he was needed to be the best, which is what's important :D He absolutely was a workhorse on the PK.

Ehrhoff had a strong game aside from that wrong play on the goals against. We talked about earning +'s before, but on that particular play, Ehrhoff (along with Manny and Alby) deserved the minus, unfortunately. But on the overall scale, I'd reiterate that both players played great games.

Overall

Goals: 6 (33rd over all NHL Dmen)

Assists: 13 (69th)

Points: 19 (57th)

EV

G: 5 (10th)

A: 12 (31st)

P: 17 (18th)

PP

G: 1 (62nd)

A: 1 (99th)

P: 2 (87th)

SH

G: 0

A: 0

P: 0

Game Winners: 2 (13th)

not bad for a "#4" Dman. Probably a few team out there who wouldn't mind that from someone at "#4".

I'll add a few.

Plus/Minus: +25 (2nd)

TOI: 22:16 (55th)

PPTOI: 1:46 (97th)

SHTOI: 2:38 (67th)

Penalty Minutes: 65 (10th)

Minors: 25 (4th)

Majors: 3 (14th)

Hits: 89 (47th)

Blocked Shots: 78 (88th)

Giveaways: 36 (40th)

Takeaways: 39 (6th)

Also while looking at this I came across some interesting numbers about Plus/Minus. I found the stats for both the plus and the minus.

Leading defencemen 5 on 5 goals for(received a "plus")

1. Chara - 60

2. Carle - 59

2. Aucoin - 59

4. Letang - 58

5. Bieksa - 56

28. Ehrhoff - 47

38. Edler - 46

I won't post the whole list, but Kevin Bieksa is 14th (on ice for 31 GA) amoung defencemen in the top 90 for Goals For.

EDIT: Lonny was quicker than me lol

If using career numbers is too large and credible a method for your analysis, lets talk just the last 2 seasons. Let's see here, Bxa finished last year@ minus 5, add this year's amazing plus 24 and you get a plus 19.

Now the Hoff, a paltry PLUS 36 last year, and a plus 10 this year = plus 46. Like I said, not even close.lol

Just out of curiosity, what career threatening injuries did Ehrhoff have to deal with the last two seasons?

Quick question: Who did you think was better tonight, Juice or Ehrhoff? (Note: Your coaching "credentials" are being judged by your answer)

Nope. But it'd still just as hard to be as good as he was tonight, no matter who else was in the line up.

I think even die-hard haters like CANUCKELION would have trouble stating with a straight face that Bieksa wasn't the best defenseman on the team tonight.

He will just stay off this thread for a while pretending that game didn't happened and he will pop up again trashing Bieksa the next time Bieksa has a giveaway or something. What's new?

He has said anything to defend his 'position' since the game ended, actually since the game started. He always weasel his way out of trouble.

Maybe, just maybe, Canucklelion has a life? Perhaps he is out exercising? Having a nice dinner with his partner? At a Moroccan cooking class?

Nah. You're right, Whoopsy. He's hiding!

Bxa took a beating from the Flame forwards last night and looked like a pylon on the Morrison break away where Alberts made a great play stifling a scoring opportunity.

Danny says Salo is the best Dman on the team and Salo was grateful Bxa was not paired with him. Bxa looked small and slow last night. he was the best Nuck on 'after hours' though. Oh he was the only Nuck on after hours, maybe that is why.

Danny Sedin, for one, believes he is the best defenceman on the team."You couldn't tell he's been out for so long, and that shows you what kind of player he is," Danny said. "Give him 10-15 games and he is going to be really, really good.

"I still remember when he came to Vancouver, and I didn't know how good he was. Playing against him during the lockout, was so tough. He was the best defenceman over there and I think he is over here, too.

"I hold him very high."

You seem like you have decided to ignore alot of facts that disagree with your point over the last two or three pages. Convenient.

So that means the Hoff is playing his consistent puck moving , point producing, positive plus +/- game. Which he has done, I might add, for a half million less a year than Bxa does his 'contract year', once every leap year, free agency approaches, dance.

No it doesn't mean that and no he hasn't done that. It just means he's been good as opposed to his night in night out beast play he had last season.

I watched the game, Bxa was not impressive, he looked slow and got pushed around, had his hands and his face full of Iggy, especially when Iggy sat on Bxa's face, lol, but overall, the team gutted out a win.

I still contend Bxa isn't big enough to play the main shut down role as the season ticks away and the play gets more physical with the playoffs approaching. Still there isn't much choice for the role with Hamhuis, Edler and Ballard not available. I just hope Bxa's health holds out until either Salo is 100% or some of the rest of the injured guys return.

Utter garbage.

I sincerely hope you're lying about being a coach, because otherwise I shudder to think of all the ridiculous things you'd be teaching impressionable kids.

I know if you were coaching one of my kids and I heard you spew this sort of tripe, I'd pull them from the program and start over with a coach who has a clue.

Do you ever wonder why not a single person in the entire world, out of all 6+ billion of them, agrees with most of the stuff you say? That even the most intense Bieksa haters have admitted to more than you. I have yet to see one person quote a post of yours and say "I completely agree". Not a single reporter, in Vancouver or nationwide, has been as critical of him as you. I'm sure you completely believe in what you say, but that fact that you remain entirely alone in that opinion has to make you wonder, doesn't it? It must be lonely.

Also, how many points did Iggy score with Bieksa on the ice? Yet one of the few shifts without him there and he sets up a goal. Coincidence?
