لني
It was just an all around unfortunate team game today. First the Luongo mistake, then Bieksas untimely penalties, Tanev getting undressed. All this combined with an off-day on the offensive front was a recipe for disaster. KB actually made a few nice plays and was pretty steady, he just took a very untimely penalty... I only got to watch the last 15 min of the game. I didn't get to see the items you mentioned above. I will say Bieksa looked not too shabby at the 10min mark when we had possession in the Blues zone. Honestly, in my eyes the difference maker was that Steen goal. We had just tied it and to have them pot an unfortunate one like that all but blew out the wind on our sails. To add, the entire team looked kinda flat throughout the game and Halak was never really tested. To add, our reliance on the PP reared its ugly head. Tonight's loss was a combination of a lot of things - team not looking good from the get-go, no favorable calls, and untimely penalties that got us shorthanded for too much of the game. It's one of those games where we know our team doesn't make the mistakes it made most nights, so we just need to forget about it and get back at it tomorrow. Yup. All signs point to the fact that tonight was just a perennial off-night. That being said, tomorrow's efforts are going to need to be evaluated to actually see if the team's really at a struggling point or if it was (indeed) an off-night. Whoopsy
And chain Luongo to the post preventing him from leaving the paint, ever. He is just a walking disaster everytime he try to play the puck. Not the first time, not the last time. He. is. just. bad.
Sharpshooter
Really unfortunate delay of game penalty....a little too much English on that one. I thought otherwise he had a decent game. 28 minutes is quite a chunk of time...and he handled it pretty well, all in all.

That was the only goal against us all season I can think of...you may be painting him with the brush of past seasons =P. Even the best puck handlers do it sometimes..you can find plenty of clips of Turco or Brodeur failing.
Whoopsy
Yes there are plenty of those last few years for sure. This is the first from in front of the net this year, and there was another one earlier this year from behind the net and we lost that game too and I remember commenting that that might be the turning point if we missed the playoff by a single point. And not too many games ago Luongo bobble another one behind with Rome and almost costing a goal? Did I sounded like a certain someone here dissing on Luongo's gaff like Bieksa's gaffs? But I still maintain pucking handling is not Luongo's strong suit and he really should stay in the colored as much as possible.

The one with Rome was a miscommunication though, Rome had been out of the lineup a while. But he is way improved on this aspect of the game, and I think it would be unfair to blame the game on him today even though it was only a one goal differential in the end that determined the outcome. If the team came out to play and we lost by 1, then there would be a case, but they didn't. Edit : not saying you were blaming Luongo, just stating in general =P

Sharpshooter
Bieksa now leads the league in +/- Yup....Bieksa a +1 tonight and Meszaros a -2....so Bieksa now leads the league with a +26. Well done Juice! Edit....Forgot that Kes was tied as well, with his +2 performance tonight. Oops.
sameer666
Bieksa now leads the league in +/- yep tied with kes! i wonder if roommates have ever led the league together in +/- before hehe. You can tell both for Ehrhoff and Bieksa are feeling the minutes they are playing, some unwise defensive decisions here and there by both, but in the end we got the W so we'll take it. marinated.pea
5 Canucks within the top 10 of the league. Fluke-ish or not, it's pretty indicative of great play from the team. Even in a game like tonight's, where not everyone was on their best game, we still managed to grind out the W. Good stuff.
AbbyNucksFan
it's actually 6 out of 10 1. Ryan Kesler - +26 2. Kevin Bieksa - +26 3. Andrej Meszaros - +25 4. Toni Lydman - +25 5. Daniel Sedin - +23 6. Alex Burrows - +22 7. Brian Campbell - +22 8. Henrik Sedin - +22 9. Adam McQuaid - +21 10. Dan Hamhuis - +

It's no wonder the Nuck's have so many in the top 10 +/-. It has been a team effort all year. Being a positive +/- is a foreign experience for Bxa, he is the only one of the team leaders who has never had a season over +1 before in his career. Better him going in a positive direction than a negative one, wouldn't you say? And Bieksa has also positively contributed his share to the team's plus 57....but i'm sure a negative nancy boy like you doesn't have the balls to admit that much. I'm sure if you did, you'd be thrown out the Troll Guild or Lollipop Gang, that you undoubtedly pay union dues to while on your feet in a cave or on your knees in a magical place of ruby slippers and oversized lollipops....either way, we know it's hard for you to celebrate, appreciate or compliment Bieksa....no worries. SoTzuMe
Actually, seeing as +/- only takes into account even strength goals, the team is only +30 in 5 on 5 and 4 on 4 situations (128 - 98).
