Does anyone here know what the status of Archi is? I know he is here on a PTO, but how long does a PTO last? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Good to hear, he fits well in the AHL skill level and and still bring more skill along with grit to be quite effective. Hasn't had the same success in limited runs in the NHL, but could maybe still find that game to be a reasonable 4th liner.

Guy is having a pretty good year despite comets struggling. Wonder if this turns into another two way deal for him this summer like it did for Zalewski.

Exactly my thought. How have we not talked about this guy more? Him and Pedan. It blows my mind why we haven't seen more of these guys. Like

why is Grenier getting called everytime and not Archibald, I know hes not under contract but ffs leave no stone un-turned right?

Honestly, we've seen a reasonable amount of them and they haven't particularly impressed. Archie's been better at the AHL level, with Pedan having ups and downs (not doing great currently), but neither have really shown much when they've gotten the chance to play for the Canucks. I don't think either have been a major liability, but they didn't end up bringing much to the table either.

I don't expect much of a push to sign either to an NHL contract (for Pedan, after his current one that is) when we have a number of other prospects coming into the system with more promise.

Archie got a tryout a few years ago when he was not really contributing to the comets, and was never heard from again after that. Now hes leading the comets it points and we don't re-visit him? Makes no sense. Pedan was called up several times and never saw 1 min of ice time this year. Its BS when you have to watch Sbisa flounder around every night.

Really?! Sbisa is who you want to complain about?

Archibald has always been a contributor to the Comets, that's why he got 16 games with the Canucks a couple years ago. He had 14 goals the year after that (has 19 this year) so it's not like this season is a massive difference to how he's played in the past. As it stands, he was at a point where we had to decide if we wanted to offer him a contract or not, and all he could get was AHL-only. Just like Pedan, he didn't impress in the time he did get in the NHL so they choose to move on and they aren't about to offer one of their few remaining contract spots to him now. They may move on from Pedan at this rate as well.

Any NHL team could offer him a contract this very second. I don't see anyone rushing to do so. If he'd done more then he'd have gotten a chance somewhere over these last two years. He tried to hold out for something more in 2015 and couldn't get anything but an ECHL contract before he signed with the Comets a month into the season (which forced Dane Fox back to the ECHL). We're not missing a rare gem here, even if he might make more of an impact now.

Interesting... sounds like he's getting an NHL deal? Pretty impressive for a guy who had to start over in the ECHL two years ago when it looked like his NHL hopes were done. Might be useful as an occasional call-up and he's invaluable to the Comets so I'm glad they're bringing him back. Hope they get Valk back too.

Or AHL contract...?

Completely forgot about Archi til I watched the game today. With our extremely soft forward group, I wouldn't mind having him on our 4th line this year. Guy can throw some massive hits and maybe even chip in some goals once in awhile.

I thought maybe after the season Archie had last year that he would get another NHL contract but after being unsigned much of the summer he finally signed an AHL deal with the Comets.
