Casual fan just getting into footy.  From the games I watched this year I say offensively the Whitecaps were entertaining but the last minute goals they would give up were frustrating to say the least and are probably the number one reason they are in the predicament they're in today.

Yep. Defensive lapses late and lack of finish early have been the major contributors to this sub-par season. IIRC, they still don't have a clean sheet this season?

I watched them all, and all but 2 games were dull/boring ....i had more fun watching the opposing team , than my lovely whitecaps.

Also, bob is looking into some female coaches, so we may have a female coach this comming year, i dont care really, aslong as they make the whitecaps great again

I think we need better players.  With better players, a potato could coach the team to wins.

I've said it before, but last night it reared it's ugly head once again: Marcel De Jong should not be a starter on an MLS roster, especially one as defensively challenged already as Whitecaps FC.

And WTF was up with Ghazal last night?

This isn't an endorsement of Robbo, but I really hated Dalrymple's tactics yesterday. DeJong should have been substituted at halftime and they should have found a spot for Hurtado to come in as well. Kamara was game, but Mezquida was no help at all.

They basically need to a whole team overhawl , and maybe even acquire parker back to help rebuild this team defensively ....the onething u can see and i will use juventus as a example, before they aquired ronaldo , they didnt score much, but what won it for them was strong sound defensive core, we need that and than build from that and up.

I mean thats not really true. Juve has always had a strong team top to bottom. I think you could even make the argument that they have had better attackers/midfielders than they have ever had defenders. Yes they have had Scirea and Gentile (and to a lesser extent, Chiellini and Barzagli) but they have had some of the most gifted attackers of all time too. Zidane, Del Piero, Baggio, Nedved, Trezuguet.

Carl Robinson always focused on defensive structure, but he lacked balance as a manager. His team could keep the ball out of the net when they wanted too, but sacrificed goals when they pushed forward. Thus, I don't really understand your logic for wanting to build from the back. Ill be honest, I love watching counter attacking teams, but the average VWCFC fan doesn't know the game enough to truly appreciate it. Its just not how we view the game in this country

For example in Turin at a club like Juventus fans are upset if they win a match at home where they concede. They would rather win a match 1-0, than 3-1. Here (and in most MLS cities) we would prefer the team to win 3-1 than a "boring" 1-0 win.

Yup , so glad TFC didnt make it.....at this point even if whitecaps dont make the playoffs we still win win

When the season started, who'd have thought that Montreal would be the only Canadian team in the playoffs?

I hope for a strong finish to the season, however I feel like the real problem is Bobby. We have to spend that money on natural grass for BC place for us to ever dream of luring a clutch striker. Nobody wants to play on our turf and nobody wants us to waste that Alfonso Davis money on no name South Americans anymore either! Give the loyal caps fans what they deserve and if Bobby can’t do it then find someone who will.

Totally agree about getting grass.  Soccer is stupid on turf.  The ball bounces crazy, and players get injured.  I don’t know if the Davis dollars can be used for that though?

I don’t know exactly what the limitations are for spending the money on what, I know they plan on spending some of it on their academy. I think you can use the funds towards that, players and facility upgrades (so perhaps BC place grass could be in that boat). This much I do know is that they would have to talk to the city (or whoever owns BC Place as the whitecaps owners do not own all of BC Place)  for approval on the grass if they happen to go down that road. I hope for soccers sake in this city that they do, after bailing on the bid for the World Cup, this city needs something to be excited for when it comes to the beautiful game.

I used to care about the whitecaps, but till there management spends some money to aquire some proven MLS skillful players, why support? whitecaps never spend money and i doubt they will spend davies money on a proven scorer either ....toronto spends money and they have 3 bonified stars , montreal have a couple
