UnkNuk
Well, too bad they lost but the first game of the season is always entertaining if only to see the new players. I thought Milinkovic jumped out in his performance. Cavallini had a couple of chances, couldn't capitalize but looks promising. Khmiri and Dajome looked okay. Of the returnees, In-Beom seemed rather lost out there. It was a mixed performance. There were periods where the team moved up the field with ball control which was nice to see. But there were also lapses where they resorted to kicking the ball upfield and praying as we've seen so often before. In any event, on to LA. I may not agree with all the moves the Aquilini’s may do but I will NEVER doubt their commitment to the Canucks in financial terms. 1

To be fair, they did spend a reported $6 million to acquire Cavallini.

I thought I read somewhere the collective resources of all the Whitecap owners is at least on the same level of the Aquilini's. So it's not a case of them being just 'small potatoes' compared to the rest of the league. Funny thing is, look how well the team is doing without Gillis's acquisition Markstrom currently. The Whitecaps ownership group is "poor" relative to the other owners of the league. They collectively have like $6 billion or something.... but compared to the behemoth such as NYRB, TFC, the Sounders, etc., those teams has financial resources the Caps can only dream of. I mean one of the former owners of the Sounders, Paul Allen had $20 billion by himself.

I *think* I read somewhere the Caps were well below the league average (though again, I could be mistaken on this).
UnkNuk
An 'away' win is always good. An 'away' win in LA is even better. A very good effort by the Caps in an entertaining game. It's still very early days but, so far, I have a better feeling about this team and its potential than the Whitecaps teams of the past few years. MJDDawg
I’m coming around on some of these new guys. Seem to add a lot of the bite we’ve been missing for a while now. I really liked Bikel on the back line. Made Pavano’s night really tough. Owusu has a similar type game so looking forward to both of them making opponents hate playing this team. Inbeom’s bad game does concern me though. Seemed hesitant and made poor decisions all night, which isn’t good news for our attack if he doesn’t show better. Definitely a better feeling about this group than anytime over the last 3 seasons.

Definitely a better feeling about this group than anytime over the last 3 seasons. Agree on all points. I thought Bikel was the MotM. Pavano looked far more dangerous that Chicharito but time and again, Bikel was there to stifle his runs and keep him from providing service to Hernandez. I also thought Raposo injected some real life into the Caps' attack. Smart substitution by MdS. Finally, Khmiri is starting to grow on me. The Whitecaps have missed having a towering defender who can win the ball in the air, ever since Waston left. I think the combo of Khmiri and Rose has a chance to make us forget how much we've missed the pairing of KW and Tim Parker. Still a lot of work to do and with the competitiveness of the Western Conference, I still see this as a bubble team, but they were full value for that win last night and I'm a lot more optimistic than I was after last week's game.

First season: 15, 500 season ticket holders. This season: 8800. An alarming drop for a team that wanted to be 'top 40 in the world' or whatever it was.
