Joseph LaBate | C/LW

b3.

Expected a bigger offensive output from Labate this season. Especially being on such a good team.

Hopefully he can put up a PPG or higher next season.

He was the third line center on a senior laden team this year. Considering that, the numbers look pretty good.

Next year will be big for him. He'll move up, way up the depth chart on a young Badgers squad.

In the games I watched he got the Malhotra treatment plus power play time. Lots of d-zone starts against tough competition.

It was his third season playing for the Badgers. He was one of the senior guys.

I would have expected him to earn top 6 time this season. Hopefully next season though.

there being a "next year" means he wasn't a senior this year.

Lots of players finish their degrees in 3 years. But yea Labate is listed as a junior, so he has one more year.

Either way the team is 2/3 freshman and juniors, so the excuse that the team had lots of seniors that kept Labate down isn't really a good one. As an NHL drafted player he should be playing top 6 minutes by his third year.

Anybody know why LaBate wasn't at this years (2014) development camp? Injury?

College players have to pay their own way completely, including hotels, flights, meals, and everything else. Probably just didn't have the money like Hutton did.

He's already been to 3 prospect camps has he not?

Not sure what he would gain by going to a 4th.

Yeah, attending a fourth would seem like overkill. He needs a big senior year if he wants a contract though, I think.

Definitely, hasn't improved much from his first year in college. He's 6th in team scoring for being in his 3rd year.
