I think it's only gonna get worse.

As I see Ottawa, Montreal, Florida and Quebec ( sorry had to) have made big changes that should get them pushing for a playoff spot.

( no slant on the others, these four just stuck out to me... or were pointed out to me by Winterhawks :P)

Well last year people said my team looked good going into the season, and I got cursed with injuries to half my team. I had no depth in the bottom 6, Matt Carle was my olnly offensive defenseman, and Justin Peters was not ready to be a backup.

Out from last year:

Kane (294)

Arnott (160)

Winchester (143 when he was on my team)

Ruutu (150)

Kyle Wilson (9)

Ryan Johnson (24)

Kyle Wellwood (47)

Justin Peters (41)

Total 868

In:

Brent Burns (383)

Erik Cole (265)

Kyle Clifford (141counting only his PIMs)

Matt Moulson (215)

Jason LaBarbera (179)

Andrew Desjardins (???)

+ possible rookies - Riley Nash, Cam MacIntyre, and Calvin De Haan

Total 1183 - not including G/A/+/- for Clifford, and the Rookies

Plus Okposo is healthy (same can't be said about him around this time last season... hope I didn't put a hex on him :S)

The net difference would've been enough to push me into a playoff spot last season.

I agree that you have improved you club quite a bit, and should be right there in the mix for the last couple spots, you'll need Price to repeat or come close to his last year production, but other than that, not much criticism, I really like what you've done.

PRESS RELEASE:

GM Squeak came out to say this today regarding placing John Scott on waivers,

" We felt that our prospects and younger players had earned their roster spots, which forced us to make this move.

We had kicked tires to see if there was a market for Scott, but no real offers came out. We are not surprised that someone placed a claim on him, since he is the first of many players to be hitting the waiver wire in the coming weeks.

But we watch the waiver wire closely, and since we will be 5th on the waiver wire depth due to our standing last season, we anticipate that we will be able to replace Scott shortly"
