Hey y'all,

Back after a few days stranded with a canoe on a rainy island in the Straight. I'll tell you something you didn't know..... Mr Postman is strong enough to snap a 2 inch thick wooden oar simply by rowing! He's one strong dude.

Anyway, were there any unresolved questions about LTIR before I open it up for teams to place players on? If nothing specific, I will post a simple how-to/refresher tonight.

Also, as I am leaving my agenting duties in 2 days I will be forwarding offers sent to me to one of the other agents as I try to clean up any loose ends.

There he is!

Good to see you found your way back Gilligan. :P

The only confirmation i'm looking for when it come to LTIR is whether or not we're following the real life rules of bringing up any amount of players with the LTIR cap relief providedm understanding that one can't go over the number allowed on a roster at any given time.

That's about it......but do say hi to Mr. Thurston Howell the 3rd for me. :)

Actually, I think I was closer to the Professor as I needed to keep the campfire going strong on 'Wetwood Island.' Mr Postman is definitely the Skipper.

Yes, your exact daily allowance is calculated on your cap sheet. You can replace your roster spot, or spots, with a call-up(s) up to and including your total salary cap amount. For example, If you have 21 players on your active roster with player A going on LTIR with a cap hit of $2.0 mil but you have $500k in cap space to begin with. You may call up players B and C with respective cap hits of $1.25 mil to give you a full roster of 23 players.

And, yes, I often use the tsn.ca injury page for verification of status but will accept other legitimate sources if you can seek them out. If you do not provide me with a source that is in line with your budget I will return the PM to the GM until the player's status can be verified. In most cases there is an official NHL status for injured players and there is little deviation from source to source after a 24-48 hour period. All LTIR transactions are back dated to the date of accepted request.

I don't buy that. I think the thing he was holding out on was the length. He didn't want to be locked in to a 10 year deal. I don't blame the Kings for trying though, or him for not wanting to sign for that long. But in the end I think he realized if he wants to make in that ballpark, he has to sign the long-term deal.

The Kings had an 8 year deal tabled before. I'd also heard they had a 6 year deal tabled as well. The only difference between the previous 8 year deal and this one is the extra $200,000 per season.

Fantastic player, but I think an awful lot of his character came out this summer, and not for the better.

Why aren't you thinking less of Dean Lombardi over $200,000?

At his age, Doughty is likely allowing his agent (keeping in mind who his agent is) have too much say right now. But he is 21, this is the first time he's had to really negotiate a contract. I don't blame him for taking care of his future. Because in 5 or 6 years when he would have hit free agency, he'd probably be worth a lot more than $7M (considering inflation and the like).

I do think less, just because he didn't stick to his guns.

Taking care of his future is all well and good, but if $6.8 million per season is unacceptable to you.... well... yeah,...
