Good question, let's have a look and see.

The Detroit model calls for a strong and sturdy blueline, anchored by 1 elite level defender to lead the way.

The Canucks have a very solid blueline, but lack that one standout guy.

The Detroit model follows a pattern of getting consistently solid goaltending from unheralded guys with low cap hits.

The Canucks have consistently solid goaltending, but with an elite level goaltender.

The Detroit model builds a roster that plays their own game, but are able to match teams in most any kind of contest.

The Canucks philosophy to play their own game is similar, but they tend to lose their focus when trying to 'respond' to other teams, be it physically, defensively or otherwise.

Looks to me like the Canucks are close. Dealing Luongo, signing Schneider and making a legitimate play for an elite level defenceman would put us a whole lot closer. After that, it's up to the players and the coaching staff to execute the right game plan every night and stay focused.

Well then.

The #8 Los Angeles Kings are 8-1 so far in the playoffs. 5-0 on the road. And have taken out the #1 Canucks and #2 Blues (which is apparently the 1st time that a #8 seed has ever taken out the #1 and #2 seeds since the current format has been in place).

Mighty impressive, to say the least.

How good would it be if Mike Richards and Jeff Carter paraded the Stanley Cup around the ice in Philadelphia? That's what I'm rooting for now...

I still think we should keep Luo and trade Schneider. The return would be off the wall.

Luongo's value is higher than people around here think. Return would be less, but would leave us with far more cap space.

I am not anti-Luongo. I just think that both Lu and Schneider are about equal in terms of skill level. Throw in Schneider's age, the fact that his prime is still ahead of him with lots of room to improve, the lesser cap hit, the more flexible contract situation and the strain that the media and fans have put on Luongo... I think going with Schneider is the smarter move for us in the long term.

I'm still worried about the Flyers/Devils series.

After a big night out of Doughty you are within six points of me. I could lose 5 players in one game in PHX wins the next one and Giroux, Grossman, and RInaldo could outscore Elias and Fayne for the rest of the series.

Could come down to the Caps/Rangers series where I have Knuble, Hamrlik, and Kreider.

I've got faith though my boys are continuing to battle!

Detroit model may work if the Canucks play like Detroit did in the playoffs. AKA a little less diving, grit when you need to, but winning with skill. Canucks don't have that kinda skill though.

Playing Rinaldo may not be such a bad idea considering how many pts Giroux/Talbot get shorthanded. Can you imagine the amount of points lethunder can potentially get this way? Rinaldo PIMs, Giroux SHG... Repeat

And Curt REALLY is saying trade Lu keep Schneider because he doesn't want to have to trade Schneider in the offseason in this game if the Nucks move him ;)

Tight matchups continue! This round could be finished as early as Wednesday, or as late as Saturday Night.

Los Angeles leading 149-59 over the Oilers

Winnipeg leading the Blues now 50-44

Washington with a slim lead on Buffalo 85-81

New Jersey leads Pittsburgh 110-77

Giroux suspended for game 5.

If Rinaldo gets in the lineup I could deal with a fight but I misconduct could be too much to overcome.

Very, very important game tonight. I wouldn't mind if Nashville extended the series and hopefully Kreider comes back and has a big game to extend my lead. Knuble and Hamrlik as well obviously, but I think I need the Rangers to win that series.
