Congrats to Forest getting back to the Prem.  Will be nice to see them and Leeds face off in the top flight again.

After 23 years outside English football's top flight, Nottingham Forest will be playing in the Premier League.

Forest defeated Huddersfield Town 1-0 in Sunday's promotion playoff final at Wembley Stadium and will be part of the 2022-23 Premier League season as a result.

A Levi Colwill own goal via a James Garner pass into the box in the 43rd minute was the difference for Forest.

That means Canadian international Richie Laryea could be playing in the Premier League next season, mere months after joining Forest from Toronto FC in January. Laryea was not part of the matchday squad on Sunday having made the bench in both legs of the playoff semifinals.

Bayern Munich have signed Saido Mane from Liverpool on a $42.9 million transfer.

The future of Mane at Liverpool has been in doubt since the club signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

Mane joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2016, arriving within the first 12 months of manager Jurgen Klopp's reign, and played a crucial role at the club.

the semi final at the european soccer championship  (women ) between Germany and France was a hell of a game. Both teams played a straight forward game pushing forward to create scoring chances whenever the opportunity was there. Here are the highlights from this game (in GErman language). European championship is hosted by england. The final will be England vs. Germany on Sunday.

During training last week in LA, French Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba injured his knee.

Italian media reports he could be out for the rest of 2022 and also miss the World Cup.

The English Premier League starts its season on August 5 with Arsenal hosting Crystal Palace.

For the last several seasons streaming service DAZN has had the Canadian broadcasting rights to the EPL.  That's changed.  fubo, another sports streaming service, has won the Canadian rights to the EPL for the upcoming season and the next few seasons after that.

Should you be interested, fubo's website is at:

As Wolfgang posted above, the Women's European Championship is on tomorrow (Sunday).

In Canada, you can watch if for free at UEFA.tv.  Join and then sign in.

Game is on at 9:00am Pacific Time.

Apparently they've been getting pretty good crowds for the tournament and they're expecting a big crowd again tomorrow at Wembley:

A record-breaking final for a record-breaking tournament

Several attendance records have been smashed during UEFA Women's EURO 2022 and another landmark was reached following the semi-final between Germany and France. The overall tournament attendance record of 240,055 set at Women's EURO 2017 in the Netherlands has now been doubled, with last night's match bringing the total attendance of this tournament to 487,683.

English women were worthy winners. Was really good to see so much positive energy around the women’s game and I really can’t begrudge them the victory.

 Not at all. There just doesn’t appear to be the same arrogance about them and they seem like a likeable enough bunch, even if the media seem to be trying their hardest to change that.

I watched quite a few of the games and I genuinely think that it was an inspiring event for young girls and women, so credit to the organisers and all those who participated.

...and Arsenal win 2-0 in their season opener.

They came out like a house on fire for the first quarter of the game or so.  But then Crystal Palace played them even.  But for a couple of great saves by Ramsdale this could have turned out differently.

The way Palace has been building, I thought this was a tough get.  Nice to see the Gunners start off better than last season.
