As the first order of business, newly-appointed Pittsburgh GM Chimon has named John Tavares as team captain, with Brooks Orpik and Francois Beauchemin as alternate captains. Secondly, everyone in Pittsburgh aside from Tavares are OTB. Come at me laugh.gif

I'd like to propose that we be allowed to request 1 player on our teams to have their player type changed.

I bet almost everyone on their team can find someone that should have a different player type.

This idea is in the name of realism, because certain players should have a player type closer to their real life playing style.

Pittsburgh, PA USA-- John Tavares is committed to helping turn things around in Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh forward is expected to make a long-term commitment to the NHL team, which has called a Wednesday afternoon press conference to make an "announcement regarding the future of John Tavares."

A source confirmed for The Canadian Press that Tavares has agreed to a US$33-million, six-year extension that will keep him under contract through 2017-18. The new deal kicks in after his entry-level contract expires next summer and will carry a cap hit of $5.5 million per season.

Tavares led the Islanders in points each of his first two NHL years and had goal totals of 24 and 29.

There had been speculation the native of Oakville, Ont., wanted to leave Pittsburgh-- particularly during a long losing streak this season -- but he's long expressed a desire to stay.
