Yes, I know Sekera is another left handed D, but he has arguably been one of buffalos better D (only a +/- -1 through 50gp), he is young, has 3 more years at a reasonable cap hit, and had a breakout season last year.

Buffalo is in an interesting position. Playoffs are very improbable at this point, and with last offseasons "blank cheque" spending method, the team has a lot of salary tied up for such a disappointing team. Alberts gives them a steady D that has another year on contract while they figure out how to fix the team while also shedding about a million in cap space. the pick is to even out the trade as Andrej is still young.

I think with the emergence of Tyler Myers, Buffalo takes the trade, maybe asking for a higher draft pick, or possibly an extra late round pick or 2013 pick.

Edit: Another thought, they will need cap space to sign Gragnani as well, as he is playing rather well in his rookie year.
