If Henrik Isn't Injured Now, He Will Be Soon

*Buzzsaw*

(Edit: I started this thread before Daniel was injured)

I'm not sure Henrik isn't injured. The amount of crosschecking he's been getting lately has to be taking a toll. Take a look at any game and you'll find examples where he has been crosschecked from behind into the boards when trying to run a cycle, usually with the Refs ignoring the offence. Either that or he's being tackled to the ice.

One thing for sure, if he continues to take this kind of punishment night in and night out, his body will break down and he will be out. He's just not that big to keep absorbing it.

Daniel hasn't been as badly affected, since he usually is more in front of the net or higher on the boards.

AV needs to find a way of changing the Sedins game so they are off the end boards where they are too much of a target. They need to move to the center of the ice or higher up on the boards.

In my opinion the best way to do this is to split up the Sedins and put them on separate lines with two wingers who can deal with the physical play along the boards that is being allowed since the refs started to ignore obstruction/crosschecking/holds.

You are right. It is only a matter of time.

What is up with the non calls?

What is up with the offender looming over the fallen Sedin for up to 10 seconds after the 'clean' crosscheck from behind into the boards?

The league is mostly a joke, with the occassional bright spot, that is quickly rubbed out from behind into the boards.

Every game I am amazed to see how much abuse the Sedins endure. Whether or not they should be penalties is not for me to judge but anyone that says these two guys are "soft" or are "sisters" do not watch them play.

I think that they so effectively shield the puck from the defenders that it seems like the only play to slow down or stop the Sedin cycle is to clutch/grab/cross check them off the puck.

At least Henrik knows how to absorb the abuse he takes and thats why he still has this ironman streak going.

It wouldn't surprise me, Hank takes the punishment every game, being crosschecked from behind, with the ref watching five feet away yet nothing ever gets called. You can kind of see it now in his game, watch, he has been putting more force into his hits, as we all know, he is not known for, maybe it is frustrating him to a point where he feels he has no other option but to retaliate in his own way. just an observation.

Someone remind me when the last time Hank had to miss a game due to injury was, can't remember.

He's been dealing with the hitting and crosschecking his entire career, it's never been a problem for him but all of a sudden, you predict he will be injured based on something that been going on since forever? Ok.

Sedins need to be a bit physical. I know they are skilled players, but if they were a bit physical and just showed that they wont take anything from anyone then we wont have anything to worry about in the playoffs. The likes of Iginla, Ovechkin, Zetterberg, etc. have a bit of physicality to their game, why dont the Sedins add that to their game?

Why would you want to have the minus button back? So everyone that came in here to talk about a relevant topic could minus you for your lack of anything even remotely resembling an insightful post. Just cause you disagree with the OP doesn't mean you should slap a one liner into his thread that adds zero value to the discussion.

I think the OP has a valid point and made an insightful post, I do think the Sedins (Henrik in particular) will need to adapt since in the playoffs this will just get worse not better.
