Lychees
Seriously, the players off the top of my head who i see pulling it off quite consistently are Subban, Kronwall and Doughty, what's with players leading their backs into checks? I'm not necessarily for or against it.... leaning more for against just due to the fact if the other person braces or something goes awry you're basically going spine first into someone and things do happen. NightHawkSniper
So they don't get a charging, elbowing, roughing, boarding call.

Bilbro Baggins
That way you can leave your feet and it won't be noticed. When you jump back first, you put your entire body weight in to the player you're checking.

pimpcurtly
It's to fool the forward(who relies on periphery) into thinking he is skating the other way.
Guest
It's an interesting way to hit, to say the least. It could be fairly dangerous for the player who intiates the hit, as something could go wrong and he could suffer a back problem. Going back-first into the hit with all that momentum isn't necessarily a wise thing to do. It does, however, prevent any chance of a headshot, and the force from the hit will be distributed over a larger area. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=magrxBrcF1I
Smyl ( :
What's lame are the physical attacks after the hit...the little brawls...but I noticed those initiating the aggression after clean hits are getting penalized more in recent games..ie only 'one' going to the box.
