Easiest Path To The Finals?

What is the best path for the Canucks this season? Is the idea to find the path of least resistance in the Western Conference?

The Canucks could find that path from 2nd place in the Conference.

Now I'm not saying that the Canucks should lose on purpose to finish there, but that it might not be too bad if they do. The 7 and 8 seeds are currently Phoenix and Colorado, 5 points back of Chicago for 6th. Phoenix and Colorado are grouped with San Jose, Calgary and Los Angeles. That makes a worst case scenario to play Sharks or Los Angeles, which is not that bad of a situation for the first round (travel-wise). However, there are 3, versus 2 teams, that we could also play who are close travel destinations and generally weaker teams. First round, check.

Second place also helps the Canucks avoid the deadly Central division team while they knock themselves out. Assuming the Blues come away from the first round with a win, there'd be a good chance they play Nashville or Detroit. Yes, Chicago could take down the 3rd Seed (whoever it is) but this is all hypothetical anyways. First place is gonna be playing Detroit, Nashville or Chicago in the second round, assuming Vancouver wins as well.

You gotta be smart to get out of the West, you'll find the Penguins in the Finals...

Be careful what you wish for.

Lundqvist stonewalling us isn't exactly what I'd like.

Honestly, sometimes I think our fan base is a little crazy. yeah, let's lose a couple games so we can win it at home in game 7!! :picard:

It's like fans hoping Boston would win the ECF last year. Madness.
