erkayloomeh
Kelly Hrudey last night said he figured the canucks were a tired team. He noted the way they have been playing since January and noted that AV gave the team two days off recently even though they are playing poor. It makes you wonder if the playoff run is catching up with them as opposed to the begining of the year. also didnt boston start to slide around the same time. -DLC-
I believe that burnout is very much a factor. They had a short offseason and have gone through a really rigorous scheduling in mid-late February...I'm sure it's starting to affect them. But this is the big league and the team with the most resiliency, drive and determination will hang in there and battle above fatigue to push through. That's what determines champions and I'm pretty sure that they have the tools in place to do so. Most of the guys seem very dedicated to training and the team provides every opportunity to address sleep deprivation, etc. I do think playoffs will incite a bit of a renewal, as it marks the stretch toward the finish line. They're dragging their feet out of the regular season but I'm glad they appear to be keeping some in reserve for the next big push.
KILLER
Not so much "tired" as impatient to get the regular season done and get to the unfinished goal of winning the playoffs. The result of being too anxious to get to the second season is that the Canucks at times look like they're not giving the game at hand the needed effort and focus that you have to have to win a game in a dominate way. RockNroLLa.
Agree with a;; the above posters, however I do believe they are having a hard time taking these games seriously, As the playoffs draw nearer I believe they will find that they are getting exicited day by day. Even for us fans we are getting more and more involved as the days go by cause we know the big show is about to start.Going into the playoffs, I m only concerned about 2 things, first the most concerning thing...Defense. Our D is not playing well, they need to focus on their primary task more, which is to prevent goals and scoring oppurtunites. They need to take great pride in their roles. Av needs to find a way to make this team defensively focused because the old cliche is true "defence wins championships." The second thing I m a bit concerned with are the Sedins brothers and Kesler, these three guys need to produce. For the Sedins they have to play hard and stick to their game (the clever, slick passes we saw last night in front of the net). And Kesler well, he just has to be Kess from last years playoffs, however would love to see this guy work a bit more with his linemates. I believe this would make the second line that much more dangerous. I m not gonna say anything about secondary scoring because I believe it will be adequate. menace
At least the game was settled in regulation last night. All the overtimes and shootouts are only adding to the workload. The Nucks have to make it happen in regulation time to be fresh enough come post season.
D-Money
I think they just want to make sure they're not tired a month from now.
Merci
More so than this I find the Canucks play a speed game, if you aren't giving 100% most likely the other team is not only catching up to you and battling you off the puck but it makes your defensive zone coverage laughable. Kind of hard to say but with the Canucks system more so than others if you aren't giving 100% it won't work in any facet

CodyHodgson's #1fan
I don't think they are tired, I think they are just waiting and bracing themselves for what looks to be a long haul for this team

DollarAndADream
They're probably tired of something, and that's all the criticism they get. If they are exhausted from a long playoff run, it would make sense. Even Boston is going through the same type of thing. I would guess they they are just impatient to get back into the playoffs. They know they are basically in it by now being 6 points away from 100 which St Louis got and clinched yesterday. At this point, standings aren't a huge factor. Canucks are the best road team anyways.
xereau
It could very well be this, a combination of saving energy and not giving your opposition anythign meaningful to study leading into when you really turn on the jets: Rope-a-dope -- In competitive situations other than boxing, rope-a-dope is used to describe strategies in which one party purposely puts itself in what appears to be a losing position, attempting thereby to become the eventual victor. yes we can nucks
I've said all along that the Sedins were tired... how else can you explain their longest slump in years? I was calling for them to be benched... maybe the wrong word... I meant to sit them so they could rest. I thought by sitting them the Phoenix game they would get almost a week off to recharge. It didn't happen. But they had 3 days off before the Phoenix game and then 2 days before the Columbus game. It was not a coincidence that they played with more energy and started producing again in both games. I think they'll be fine now. I think Kesler was tired too, the same reason he wasn't producing. These 3 guys play the most. It's important to manage their playing time well going into the playoffs.
King Richard
I am sure there is an element of tired to their game for sure. both mental and physical. The let-down from the highs and lows of last seasons and the Cup run along with the grind of this season must surely have worn on them. They are only human. I don't however, feel this will be an issue come playoff time when it all matters again.
Buddhas Hand
logging onto these boards each morning i am starting to feel like bill murray in ground hog day , these guys are professional athletes , most of them nearing , or in the prime of their live's ,. they have their goal , apart from a couple of hiccups they are marching towards that goal . last night was a classic example of a lesser team really raising it's game to try and keep their jobs , and stick it to the more successful team
kesler_is_clutch
kesler will gear it up for plaoffs as the rest of the nucks will! they are on idle right now knowing they will be 2nd! they may be tired but they are just taking it easy for playofs! you wait they will start to fly with like 5 games to go! Panjodh
Personally the "Canucks" being tired is complete BS. They don't have confidence right now and are not making accurate passes. Nowones driving to the ( except) booth. Luongo has no confidence in him. I believe in luongo. When luongo gets a shutout he becomes the best goalie in the world and when he gets pulled the trade rumours start :/ LUUUUUUUU!!!
