I browsed the the first two pages but did not see anything on this article so decided to post it. Bieksa having fun with reporters on his status. Enjoy

Kevin Bieksa taking it one maintenance day at a time

If Kevin Bieksa has been taking games off to rest an injury, say a lower body injury on his foot, he isn’t letting on

In the past few weeks, Bieksa has been seen limping around Rogers Arena but he won’t confirm that’s why he’ll miss his fourth straight game tonight.

“There’s no problem,” Bieksa insisted. “It’s just maintenance. I continue to maintain.

“Just maintaining my status. My body. You guys know what it is, it’s maintenance. It’s a long season and we’re heading into the playoffs soon and there’s maintenance days.

“Today’s obviously a maintenance day. I’m just going to take it one maintenance day at a time.”

But no player misses four straight games as “maintenance.” It kind of takes the “upper body, lower body” way of cloaking injuries to a new, absurdest level.

So what’s Bieksa been up to with all this maintaining?

Bubble baths by candle light? Manicures? Pedicures?

“I’ve been doing a little bit of all of that during my maintenance time off,” he said.

Mr. Maintenance had a long skate today and it’s hard to believe he won’t play in one of the final two games after the Canucks play the Anaheim Ducks tonight.

“I’m anxious, for sure,” Bieksa said. “This is the fourth game I’ll miss and it’s not a lot but it seems like I’ve been off for a month. Getting out there yesterday, after not skating for four, five or six days, felt like I was starting all over again.

“Today, I felt back to normal. It’s fun.”

Back to normal suggests he could be in the lineup again very soon.

In fact, if tonight was the start of the playoffs, Bieksa would be playing. The plan, as outlined by assistant coach Rick Bowness, is to get Bieksa back in the lineup before the postseason. It’s conceivable he could play in the Canucks final regular season game on Saturday with Daniel Sedin, who could start skating again as soon as tomorrow.

Bieksa said the decision to take the games off was a mutual one between him and the coaching staff.

“I’ve played what? 76 games this year? I feel like I’m ready,” he said. “That’s a lot of games. We’ll see if I get into one or two more.

“Again, one maintenance day at a time.”

hahahaha Bieksa is awesome! They just calling it 'maintenence' so whoever they face in the playoffs doesnt try and target him where they think hes injured, smart move if u ask me. He can go ahead and continue to maintain all he wants until April 11th thats fine with me haha
