Monteeun
Let me remind you of the horses Gillis' wagon is hitched to. Sedins, Kessler, Bieksa, Edler, Salo, Burrows. Guess who put that core together? BURKE So, before you all hate on Burke, stop and think about this.

Shift-4
Now we just need the CBC to apologize for broadcasting their crappy games out west for all these years.

Ghostsof1915
Once again the Kessel trade has raised it's ugly head. That was a horrible decision by Burke. Elite teams are build either from the net out, or your foundation is a rock solid centre, not a winger. A centre makes your line better by not only scoring but setting up goals. Wingers rarely can do that. Not only has Boston won a cup, but with Seguin and Dougie Hamilton they will be competing for a cup for years. Seguin in my mind is already a better player than Kessel. Kessel might have more points but he was -10 where as Seguin in his first full season scored 67 points and is +34! This from a guy who's 20 years old, oh right and he's from Brampton, near Toronto. Dougie Hamilton is a 6'5" right handed d-man, from TORONTO. In the current OHL playoffs with Niagara he has 11 points in 9 games and is plus 5 (A d-man!!!). Oh, and in the regular season he has 72 points and +37 in 50 games! That's not far off of Nail Yakupov's numbers for 69 points in 42 games, but Hamilton is a defenseman, not a forward. The kid is going to be a monster in the league. Burke screwed up big time, and has put the Leafs back years.
nuckin_futz
Didn't Burke once say that Kevin Lowe ran the Oilers "into the sewer" ? You might even say 'the ironing is delicious'. Somewhere Edmonton Kevin Lowe is laughing his ass off.
awalk
When is Brian burke going to learn that teams aren't built in press conferences? Stop running your mouth Brian, you've been doing it since Vancouver and you look like a fool. "Pittsburgh model my ass" "they won a lottery a got the best player in the game" - brilliant Brian, brilliant...except they also drafted key players like Malkin, Fleury, Staal, Whitney (who was traded for Kunitz), Letang, Goligoski (who was traded for Neal) etc etc Leafs want a #1 center? Tyler Seguin would look pretty good right now. Leafs need good goaltending? How are they possibly going to acquire that through trade? With what assets? They aren't going to move Gardiner or Colbourne and nothing less is going to get them a legit starting goaltender. Stop running your mouth Brian and start looking at other ways to build this team.
