What Has Gillis Really Done For This Franchise?

Amazing how some of you people have such short memories. This team is underachieving. It has been like that the latter part of the season. The scoring has gone down and our goalies have stepped up in most nights. We didn't change the core. It's the same one as last year. What did you expect after last year SCF? A major overhaul? Give me a break. The one thing that needs a change is the personnel behind the bench. AV has not adapted this team to physical teams such as Boston and LA. Even against Chicago, they struggled a couple years before.

Face the facts.. Mike Gillis has not ADDED ONE CORE piece to the team, he has simply rested on the foundation that was built by Burke and Nonis (Sedins, Kesler, Burrows, Lu, Schneider, Edler etc.)

So far in his tenure he has done a good job in adding complementary players... But guys who make big money and were thought to be apart of the core, Ballard and Booth both seem terrible because of the contracts and limited production.

However, Gillis should NOT be fired... Lets not rush to judgement as now we will see what Gillis is made of as big changes are needed

How is Malhotra not there under the epic fail category?

2.5m faceoff guy who has hands of stone, liability 5 on 5.. but apparently, he's good in the locker room so i guess that makes up for it.

I dont care if he's tops in faceoffs, a 4th liner shouldnt be making that money unless his name is Chris Neil.

Grabner - at the time wouldn't have had the chances to play top-six role like he did with Islanders

Sundin - bad signing? He made our core guys better players and the players they are today

Ballard - it may look bad now, but at the time our D was extremely weak, this was before Hamhuis signing

Booth - you call this a negative? We completely ripped off Florida. We got rid of a terrible signing in Sturm

Mitchell - technically we tried to sign him, he wanted more. And if we did re-sign him, Hamhuis wouldn't be here
