What has Gillis really done for this franchise ?

Hmmm ...

First 2 Presidents Trophies in franchise history

First Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 17 years (3rd in franchise history)

Turned a team that was completely useless offensively under Nonis (22nd in goal scoring in 07-08 and 06-07) into one of the best offensive teams in the league (5th in 11-12, 1st in 10-11)

Brought in players and developed a system that allowed our stars to flourish (Sedins with back-to-back Art Ross and MVP awards, first 2 in franchise history. First Jennings trophy in franchise history).

This fanbase is unbelievably stupid sometimes ...

Can anyone pro Gillis say anything besides "2 President Trophies".

PRESIDENT TROPHIES MEAN NOTHING PEOPLE! Well nothing besides the fact we have a pretty good team and play in weak division where none of our rivals has made the playoffs the last two years.

The challenge now is to not overreact and make too many knee jerk moves.

Everyone is going to be demanding change, but look what all that change from last season got us. A first round exit.

All that needs to be done is to cut out a few weak links and replace them with strong ones.

Sedin Sedin Burrows

Parise Kesler Booth

Higgins Schroeder Hansen

Lapierre Malhotra Kassian

Hamhuis Suter

Edler Tanev

Bieksa Salo

Luongo

Lack

shroeder lol

parise lol

is this eklund ?

the successful playoffs team are all big , fast, and defensive

how do you think these players will help us /

why did they trade the small hodgson ? it wasnt to add more small players

canucks have too many dead weights

malhotra, weise, alberts, rome

--------------

also when a gm makes the team 40 million a year it is not small chump change

People like you are giving the "back to back president's trophies" too much credit. Fact is that Vancouver just happens to be in a very weak division with the Flames, Oilers, and Avalanche in it. We play proportionally more games in this division (24), and also don't play many games with Eastern teams (18), which have become so tough in the past few years. Therefore, it was easy for Vancouver to rack up the points.

The president's trophy means NOTHING.

April 23, 2008. exactly four years ago today, MG took over the club. SInce that day: our team has...

won the division his first year as GM 100 points

won the division his second year as GM 103 points

won the entire league his third year as GM 117 points and made it to game 7 of the stanley cup finals

won the entire league his fourth year as GM 111 points

Our guys made the postseason every year of MG's GM'ing. They hit the second round twice, the finals once and just last night got eliminated in round one.

I would say he has done a lot for this team, as ultimately its him doing the signing and the steering of players contracts and the general makeup of the team. One of the better GM's in the 30 some odd years I have been watching the team.

Gillis has been grossly overrated from day one. Just because he made the players crap in a bag so he could study their bowel movements doesn't mean he's a good GM. For years his media lap dogs have quoted the intangibles as evidence of his genius because they could never find any tangible hockey moves to support their brown nosing. From day one he's had all these academic theories that have failed miserably in real life. The 4th line is probably the best hockey example. He's the only GM in the league that can't build a 4th line. It's the simplest of all hockey tasks yet he fails year after year.

The Canucks are in serious trouble now. Most of the teams they will be battling for years are young, talented and big and we have an aging soft team full of little men. Both of their last two series losses are due to the fact they couldn't get to the goal scoring areas due to the meek nature of their forwards. So here we again into another off season and Gillis will once again gut every move he previously made, keep the leftovers from the Burke Nonis area and then beat his chest about how great he is while all his media lapdogs fall in line.
