Chicago's Shaw Gets 3 Game Suspension.. Milan Lucic On Ryan Miller Gets Nothing? Equal?

So how do you see Shaw's hit on Coyote's goaltender Mike Smith? Is it equivalent to Lucic's hit on Ryan Miller?

FYI Mike Smith stayed in the game, and there was no injury on the play. However Ryan Miller was concussed and missed a few games, and also negatively impacted his performance in the playoffs.

Discuss.

The Miller hit was a long time ago and since then GMs have made it clear that they think those plays need to be disciplined, and that it was unacceptable Lucic got nothing. People need to stop comparing to that because Shanny been dealing with them differently since, and Shaw-Smith is no different. Let it go.

lol i posted on the NHL facebook page that Lucic should have been suspended for his hit on MIller and the NHL knows they screwed up and are taking it alot more seriously now. a Bruin fan chimed in with this response: "So Lucic should get suspended for Miller faking a concussion?" LOL, Boston fans are actually retarded

i don't understand how people are outraged that he got a suspension correct and that he has to be locked into incorrect rulings based on previous incorrect rulings. i thought we were supposed to be moving towards a safer league, not staying complacent.

it's not equal, but one is the product of the other.

lucic hitting miller was kind of new and so no suspension but they talked about it with all the GMs and everything and came up with a new system.

kind of like when marc savard was blind sighted, ending his career, and Cooke wasn't suspended. it wasn't because the league had a bias against savard. it was because blind sight hits hadn't been addressed by the league yet. if anyone does that again, they're suspended.

if backstrom doesn't get suspended many here will be whining that it's because he's a star player, and if he does, everyone will be whining that it's because it's against the bruins. yeesh.

People saying how the Lucic hit was to set the precedence is probably true, but absolutely ridiculous.

The NHL shouldn't be "new" at these things. A hit to the head is a hit to the head. Like we need a precedence for protecting players. Weber on Zetterberg was a pure disgusting and wrestling-like move. It's even illegal in MMA to hit in the back of the head, let alone driving it into the glass.
