zejono
I am completely sick of a**holes like you, why don't you just GTFO! If Schneider starts to play badly you'll start saying the same thing about him. I love Luongo and have said it many times, but I think the article may be right and may get traded. All I can do is hope that the team he moves onto will win a cup with Luo. Maybe he will stay with us and could win with us, but at this moment it does not seem like it. Hafizzle
I think that is a pretty unrealistic view of the situation. We've had 17 goalies suit up here inbetween McLean and Luongo. A goalie that can cope with this anal beyond belief city, is few and far between. I'm freaking amazed ANY goalie signs here the way we destroy goaltenders. daxt234
Trading Luongo? Oh I know! I'll trade the greatest goalie my team has ever had! Lui makes the decision to whether or not he gets traded anyway because of his NTC.
Deamon852
Man, I know all the cap rules, I know the chances of both goalies staying, I know the chances of other teams taking Lous contract. But there HAS to be a way for Cory to be in Van next year. There simply has to be and I will ignore all logic and reason. We need him on our team next year.... there MUST be a way!!!! Haikara
I really wish we could stop talking about Luongo being traded. It can't do anything but harm to his confidence and it isn't happening. He was our best player in games 1 and 2 and we still want to trade him?

Millerdraft
My heart says Luongo but it is clear in my head that Schneider is the better pure business move. Luongo raised this franchise from being Toronto-like to the elite team that it is today. People who want Schneider instead of Luongo are obviously fans who started watching the Canucks AFTER they became good and an elite team - which happens to be precisely because we got Luongo. In 2007, Luongo was the team. Literally. After Luongo puts us on the path that we are on today, we're going to get rid of him? Business is business, yes, but seeing this happen would really hurt - especially after all the trust we gave him with the contract and all that he's done for us...Now that there is a new toy who might be better and is younger we trade him? That's what scares me - hockey is a business, and it makes sense as a business to keep the younger Cory Schneider especially when his stats are so good. But Luongo is in the hearts of those who have followed this team for longer than just for the last 5-6 years that we've been a good team - for the 5-6 years that Luongo happened to be on our team. If we trade Luongo, I'd understand, but I would be very upset. Business is business, but sometimes it just hurts. And I happen to be one of those people who believe Luongo still has a good few years left in him and will be able to compete against the best of them, so it would hurt even more. If Luongo does get traded, I hope he wins a Stanley Cup elsewhere. I really do. The guy's a champ and he deserves one. I just hope we keep him and he can hoist it here. EDIT: and one more thing - the Canucks organization preaches a "family" approach with its players. It'll be very hard to sell that pitch after moving one of the franchise pieces who grew up with the team and put the team where it is now for a new piece which may or may not be better. How will Gillis sell that pitch of "we treat you like a family" to the UFAs when they see how we treat Luongo after Schneider came up? Especially when there is not even that much of a difference between the two players? I don't know. Just my 2 cents.
L'Orange
My view is simple. Both goalies are pretty equal overall, but the difference is in how each goalie adapts to the market he's in. Emotional goalies have trouble in Vancouver. The fanbase here hurts them badly, and it hurts their play. Ice cold, totally calm goalies excel here, the last one was McLean, now Schneider is similar in his calmness. With the way things have gone, I do think Luongo could be feeling, the team is becoming Schneider's, not mine, and will say "here's a list of places I'd go, I'll accept a trade to one of them". I think if he does get moved, his numbers will bounce back up, he simply needs to be in a city where a he won't be scrutinized in the way we do here. Given similar skill in net between the two, Schneider is the one that has the right demeanor for a city that gives most goalies nightmares. I really like Luongo and would rather see him succeed in a city that fit him better, than have his career go downhill because he is too emotional for this town. Deamon852
Honestly? I gave you a +1 but he'd be doing Luongo a favour by trading him. His hometown crowd boos him all the time. I know because I'm there (not booing). The media here is relentless and uber annoying. On the other end of the dilemma, Schneider was a player drafted by the Canucks and Luongo was not. UFAs will understand why this became untenable after six years. When was the last time a goalie played seven consecutive seasons in Toronto? Edmonton? Calgary (Kiprusoff gets "traded" every other year)? Montreal (Roy got a reprieve by winning in '85, getting to the final in '89 & winning in '93 and was still run out of town less than 2 yrs later)? It's par for the course in Canada.

UFCanuck
Luongo's finished in Vancouver. He's going to ask for a trade if he has any pride. He knows that Cory is this teams best option. He also understands how much he is being paid and we can't pay over 5M for a back-up.
Meyer_Buttreeks
I think a lot of fans get "frustration" and "hate" confused. I do not hate Luongo, he has been a good goalie and a crucial piece of the team, just not good enough to please the Cup thirsty Canuck fan. Now, I can say that Luongo frustrates me, but I don't hate him and I'll never say he sucks.
