Parenteau and Wideman are huge risks if your tying that much money and term. There stats look really nice, but Parenteau is a huge liability in his own end, and remember he was a fringe NHL player before he ended up playing with John Tavares. I doubt he replicates that success with Ryan Kesler, who is miles inferior offensively.

Wideman isn't great in his own end either, him and Edler...

I also think Tanev becomes a top 4 defenseman next year.

Regarding Parenteau, it appears that he can pass, I think a shoot first player like Kesler would benefit greatly from having a passer on his line.

Tanev certainly could become a top-4 defender, but that's the beauty of depth, we would be able to roll all three pairings instead of just relying on Hammer, Juice & Eddy.

Washington wouldn't have the cap space to re-sign both Wideman & Green

I would rather have a vet like Vokoun behind Schneiderman than unproven Lack.

Sign PA Parenteau to a 4-year contract at 4.25 per-- I'd take that

Sign Dennis Wideman to a 6 year contract at 4.85 per-- no thanks, rather have them go after Suter

Sign Zenon Konopka to a 2 year at 1.1 per-- IF the Manny deal works sure, or if not get Colin Fraser

Sign Thomas Vokoun to a 1 year deal at 2.9 per-- as Cory's backup? NO

Salo, 1 year, $2M-- not sure I'd have him for that much for another season TBH; rather have Ballard

Keith Ballard for Shawn Matthias and 5th-- NO;

doubting Manny would want to go to FLA but him for Matthias would be nice

Manny Malholtra, 3rd to Detroit for Justin Abdelkader-- we can dream, Holland's not dumb :P

Trade Mason Raymonds rights for a pick at the draft-- yes please

Trade Andrew Alberts for a low pick at the draft-- he can be kept

Trade Luongo to Tampa Bay for 10th overall--

not sure I like it if he gets traded straight up for a pick (or if he'd even get that much value)

here's what I'd do (not gonna calculate salaries):

Twins - Booth (keep this line together!)

Burrows - Kesler - Parenteau (Kes gets his play maker; or Schroeder can earn the spot or be 3rd C)

Higgins - Pahlsson - Hansen (Burr or Higgins on the left wing on 2nd/ 3rd LW)

Manny - Lapierre - Bitz (hope Kassian or Pinizzotto can steal the spot from Bitz!)

Hamhuis - Bieksa

Suter - Edler (Suter or other solid defender who can play in his own end too-- NOT Wideman please)

Ballard - Tanev (I'd keep this pair)

Cory

Lack/ another backup
