(Proposal) Adding Size To Forwards And Defense

Recommended Posts

So as we all know defense and size win championships, so here are a few moves that would bring us that needed defense and size:

Trade 1)

Vancouver receives: Johan Franzen + Tomas Jurco + 2012 2nd rounder

Detroit receives: Roberto Luongo + Keith Ballard + rights to Mason Raymond + 2012 2nd and 5th round pick

Trade 2)

Vancouver receives: Nikolai Kulemin + Mike Komisarek

Toronto receives: Kevin Bieksa + rights to Sami Pahlsson

Signings: Zach Parise, Ryan Suter and Brad Stuart

Canucks 2012-13 line up:

Daniel - Henrik - Parise

Booth - Kesler - Franzen

Burrows - Schroeder - Kulemin

Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen

Edler - Suter

Hamhuis - Stuart

Tanev - Komisarek/Salo if he wants to play another year

Re-sign Schneider to a 6 year contract @ $21,000,000 ($3,500,000 annually)

Sign Parise to 10 years @ $50,000,000 ($5,000,000 annually)

Sign Stuart to 5 years @ $20,000,000 ($4,000,000 annually)

Sign Suter to 10 years at $50,000,000 ($5,000,000 annually)

LMAO Franzen? haha our second line of booth-kesler-franzen will be a bigger no show than how it is now! There's no way Parise only makes 5 million neither Suter. They're both getting minimum 6 mill

Komisarek :picard: Leafs fan would be happy if someone took him from their hands...Suter 10 years really? Why would anyone sign someone to a contract that long unless it's their star player like crosby stamkos ovechkin etc..

You were right about the first two lines of your post - size and defence wins championships. But I don't think we need moves that drastic.

Our forward group is fine in terms of size. Give Booth and Kassian a year to develop and grow and they'll be much better than this season.

Maybe package Raymond and Ballard (two small, fast players) for P.A Parenteau (big, great playmaker) for our 2nd line.

Then trade one of our goaltenders for a top-2 defenceman, finally go pick up a good #6, big, physical shutdown defenceman off UFA.

CAP Space??

I think these 10 year deals with front loaded contracts aren't going to happen anymore. Therefore your deals with Suter and Parise aren't reasonable.

People wonder why Kesler can't score, but he's been a one man show for a while, I agree Booth is a good player but he does not fit well with Kesler. Parise is definitely a player we should shoot for and I can see him signing for 6.1 - 6.5 million here to play with Kesler, another player we should target is Whitney for 1 year 3 - 3.5 million.

Jensen probably will get a good look at making the roster this year,

trade Luongo + Booth for a offensive dman on the right and/or some picks.

Tanev + Connauton, 1 more year in the AHL, Tanev to work on the powerplay and his offensive game and connauton to tune his skills and develop his defensive game, together these guys can become a high end top 4 pairing.
