2012/13 Canucks Minus Luongo Ballard And Raymond

Recommended Posts

very possible these players could be gone.

If no one wants Ballard waive him and then send him down to Chicago so his 4million won't count against the cap.

Don't sign Raymond or sign him and trade him we need size and strength and a more sure thing let someone else try to get him back on track and if they do good for them.

trade Luongo, Clearly it's Schneider's time

taking away these players will give the Canucks a lot of cap room and they could improve the team in a lot of ways. They could even make a run a Suter. weidman would be another good target.

here is 1 example of what the Canucks could do:

trade Luongo to Toronto for Kulemin and some picks maybe a 2'nd and 3'rd this year, i think this is a realistic return

Kulemin is a big forward who actually likes to hit and can score he had an off year but i think he would be a good line mate for kesler and booth

sign Suter to a long term deal for 5.5-6 million per year

Sign Gaustad for aprox. 2.5 million he is another big physical player who is good defensively and good on face-offs

resign Schneider 4 years 4 million per

re sign Salo for 2 million again

go with Lack or another cheap backup

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)

(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,260,500; BONUSES: $0

CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $39,500

this is a 23 man roster so there would still be some flexibillity with cap space.

ok fine i agree Purcell or Malone would be better than Kulemin, Purcell had better numbers but doesn't add the size and physical play and Purcell is a ufa after next year while Malone is locked up for years at 4.5 which would be manageable. Purcell's +/- was much better tho.
