A mob of women got into a bloody street fight in California, reportedly as a result of Facebook posts.

Recently, a wife discovered her husband was cheating on her with another woman, who was posting comments on Facebook about their romance. The wife decided to do something about the torrid affair.

“It was about infidelities, some types of postings about those things, it obviously got her upset enough to want to fight the woman,” said Sacramento Police Officer Michele Gigante. “It turned into a bit of a melee.”

Word spread fast about a pre-planned brawl between the ladies. Some 30 women arrived at an intersection in Del Paso Heights near Sacramento at around 4 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses say they began yelling, pushing and swinging — some fists, others baseball bats. Rocks, bottles and candles were also used as weapons in the battle.

“Two people really sustained major injuries,” Sacramento Police Sgt. Andrew Pettit said to CBS Sacramento news. “Those two people were reportedly hit with bats and they went to the hospital requiring stitches.”

Police said one woman grabbed a votive candle from a nearby roadside memorial on the corner of Grand Ave. and Clay St., smashing it to use as a sharp weapon.

She later went into Jimmy’s, the convenience store across the street, to get a beverage to quench her thirst, said a witness.

“A few came into the store to buy drinks,” said the witness to CBS. The street fighters “looked angry” and were “out of breath,” she said.

The investigation is still pending, according to police.

In the meantime, “everyone needs to stop posting all their business on Facebook,” said local resident Patricia Brandon.

Wow...

Why did the wife go and attack the "mistress" before she confronted her husband?

And people should mind their own business before all hell breaks loose and 30 woman start slapping each other with candles from memorials, all the while they take breaks in between (maybe because they were obese ?haha).

Facebook and Twitter are by far the stupidest social media. Absolutely no appeal for anyone out of highschool.

Dead serious. I have no desire to know what people are eating/wearing/watching/doing every half hour and even less desire to know the people who actually post that rubbish. The only real use it has is for businesses who are trying to get the word out or advertise something.

Well that depends on what type of friends you have on FB.

Not everyone does that on FB and it's not fair to call it stupid because it's the most useful social media tool for people to stay in touch+communicate.

PS: I do agree with the bold.

I prefer skype for that. It's free, you get to talk in real time, you get to chat, you can have a video conference, share files and photos. And all without your other "friends" knowing your business and liking your updates and poking you or asking you to help them with farmville crops.

But I still send people hand written letters by snail mail, so you are talking to a fossil ;)
